Joining the Academy is simple, and you won't be asked to sign up or join until you are ready and have taken a week long test drive so as to meet the coaches, staff, and other students. There are only two memberships available. There are no long term contracts. Every membership is month to month. All that is required to cancel, or hold, your membership, is a 30 day written email notice.
Garrett Whitman is one of three pure bred black belts that learned under my tutelage since the inception of the academy in 2007. He has been with me since start and has become the leading edge of the academy's brazilian jiu-jitsu competition team. You will find him teaching evening classes almost as much as myself (Professor Tomacelli) in his own pursuit to open up the first academy affiliate in the near future.
Daniel Estrella is one of my brown belts at the academy and my assistant combatives + self defense instructor. You will find him often teaching the 6:00am Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes when I cannot make it. You will also find him religiously at the 5:30pm Friday night scheduled C+S class.

Professor Pat Tasson is a 4th degree black belt under my master, Joe Moreira. Professor Tasson has had quite an impact on my entire grappling game. He, and Professor Ed Beneville, were always there teaching in Joe's sted while he was abroad teaching seminars and expanding the family. You will typically find him training, or teaching, the Advanced BJJ classes at the academy.
During the inception and creation of Tomacelli Academy I have been come to one main realization that most martial artist and fighters only come to late in their careers. Longevity is the true goal. In order to maintain this longevity sometime we need outside knowledge, and outside skill. This is where my healers come into play.

Today i was contacted by Morgan Loyd, a supposed employee of this gym, and a man i have never spoken to directly in my life, who's only connection to me is through a facebook page. Morgan sent me these messages you can see below, as we had both commented and engaged in the comment section of a video. Although i never commented directly at Morgan, we had opposing views on a subject, and he felt the need to send me this message, implying some sort of threat and directly naming his gym, address, and subsequent employment there.

Im a blackbelt that was passing by the costa Mesa area and manage to spend some good hours training at this academy. I don't usually write reviews but this academy deserve it. Good people, good positive vibes. Everyone are very welcoming here. Have been training at gyms all around the globe, having spend a couple of full days at this gym I have to say it is rare to see a enthusiastic gym owner put so much efforts day in and day out at this place, maintaining a good clean environment and creating such a positive family vibe. Really like this place. My membership covers Joe Moreira and Mike Tomacelli Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Marco Ruas Vale Tudo, Ken Smith Combatives and a whole bunch of other great martial arts skills. They have a really nice clean BJJ area, MMA Octagon and a great Kickboxing bag set up. They also have some great boxing and Muy Thai classes as well. I have been to quite a few MMA places over the years and I have found this one to be my favorite. Highly recommend to anyone that wants a great workout and develop some good skills as well. They also gave a really good kids program as well, which I think is

The Tomacelli Academic provides the best possible training for beginners or advanced in striking, grappling and combative arts available anywhere. Their instructors are world class and certified in their craft.
