Dr. Ed Hastain has been serving the animals of Summit County since 1990. The Breckenridge Animal Clinic strives to provide the best quality small animal care while retaining a "small town doctor" feel that is often missing from many large animal hospitals.

At the Breckenridge Animal Clinic, we are focused on preventative care and encourage regular annual exams (senior pet bi-annual exams) to help catch any health issues before they become serious problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best. At this time we are small animal practice only.
Dr. Ed Hastain, DMV aka. Dr. Ed is the owner and head veterinarian at the Breckenridge Animal Clinic. Dr. Ed completed his veterinary studies at Colorado State University. Dr. Ed has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1984 and opened the Breckenridge Animal Clinic in 1990. Dr. Ed lives in Fairplay with his wife Diane and their dogs Quill and Willow, cats Star Kitty and Rincon and their two horses Nevada and Scout.
We adopted Miss Emma Lou from the Summit County Animal Shelter in the autumn of 2006. She was 3 years old at the time and had been in the shelter for quite a long time. We saw her in one of the cages dipping her front paw into her water bowl and then licking the water off. I thought she was on the way to going insane.

Usually people treat my dog like he isn't worth anything because he barks and is high tempered. I told this place he needs a muzzle when strangers mess with him and they were hugging him while he he was crying. I will drive 2 hours out the way for this care. Thank you so much. They really do care or they should all be professional actors

Positive: Professionalism, Quality, Responsiveness
We are traveling through and needed to get our 10 year old dog treated for diarrhea. Called and got an appointment scheduled for the next day (by a very friendly staff). Saw vet first thing the next day , very kind and professional, fixed her right up with meds and we were on our way. Highly recommend these folks!

My dog was very sick called the vet that was on call at 1:30 am he answered was very polite, told me it could wait until the morning because he didn't wanna charge me a very expensive bill. Told us to get there 1st thing in the morning they fit us in even though he had a booked day. They explained everything through and now my pup is on the road to recovery! HIGHLY recommend this place staff is super friendly and helpful! Will definitely be taking my pets back! Thank you guys so much!
