This was the perfect place to go!! I've been needing a haircut for so long but have been scared to get one because of my bad experiences in the past!
I did a horrible job describing what I wanted done but my stylist somehow still knew exactly what I meant and I couldn't be happier! Staff was also super friendly and comfortable :)

Ashby Madison's is a salon that never stops teaching. Amy (the owner) is a perfectionist who cares very much about the people who work for her and their growth as stylists and is one off the best hairdresser/business owners I know. 25+ years in business demonstrates that alone. Dollar for dollar you aren't going to find a better value anywhere for the quality.

I had an amazing experience as a walk-in to this salon yesterday. I rarely get my hair cut- I lost my trust with hairdressers long ago after a bad haircut (in middle school lol) but I I’ve FINALLY found someone who I will return to see when I need a trim, and actually I look forward to it. Her name is Hannah and I put my trust in her to do what she thought best for my hair type (which included more than a simple trim) and she absolutely nailed it. Hannah did SUCH an amazing job transforming my hair! The salon and staff were amazing and the atmosphere was very relaxing. They were also taking all precautions to stay sanitized and clean between customers so that’s a huge plus. Hannah was such a wonderful person, knowledgeable and took her time to make sure my hair was how I wanted it. I will be coming back 100% and I can’t wait!

I had my style update here yesterday with Amy, salon owner and my friend. Highly recommend this place. Love the ambiance and the service. Prices vary with stylists and services. Book in advance; it is a busy place. Parking is on the street and it's a challenge for handicapped accessible. Always a good experience here. Full attention to requests and friendly service make it a pleasure to return every 2-3 months. Visit Marty's Meats 2 doors over for a super brisket or fried chicken. Takeout or delivery only.Safe protocols required. Masks and no COVID symptoms.

I made and appointment for a last-minute haircut since I knew businesses would be closed after today I had never been to this salon before, but it's very close to where I live and I'd read good reviews about it. It was incredibly easy to make an appointment over the phone and I was so grateful that they could squeeze me in! Got my hair done here. The hairdresser was good with layering but they barely trimmed...ending up trimming and fixing it myself at home. (And then had to redo the layers too) Kept asking the hairdresser to trim but she only used the layering shears - left frustrated. They were very friendly people but I would only go back again if I wanted a layering touch up done. A little pricey but this IS in the art district on park avenue people.

After going to another salon the day before and walking out looking like a frizzy mess, I called Ashby Madison to see if I could walk in a hour and they said yes. It is very rare that Yelp lets me down but this time Yelp led me to this great salon. The girls were very sweet and attended me right away. Haley did my hair and she was fantastic. Such a nice girl. This place is cute and staff is friendly! Haylee has been doing my hair for almost a year now and I'm never disappointed! She cuts, colors, and even did a great ombre with my hair! Very cool and friendly. My hairs really long and thick and can take an hour or two to cut, color, and style. Most hair dresser seem bored and annoyed by the end of it, but she seems to truly love her job and making her clients happy!

I have been to this salon twice so far and have been very satisfied both times. They welcome walk-ins and appointments and are very accommodating. I pleasantly sipped tea as I was having my hair cut and enjoyed the overall atmosphere.
After my first visit I received a phone call from my stylist, Hayley (whose name I may have spelled incorrectly), asking me if I was satisfied with my cut, which I was! About six weeks later I received another phone call reminding me that I'm up for a trim, which was appreciated. Their customer service is excellent.
Additionally, their prices are great!

The girls here are great! I have been a happy customer for quite some time. I have always seen good work and good attitudes. The prices can't be beat in the Park Ave. area either.
The warning I have to give though is that that owner can be very inappropriate. So inappropriate that I can't give examples, they are so vulgar; I think that my post would be flagged. I found her amusing many days; I thought she was auditioning for Tabitha's Salon Takeover. She reams out her employees in front of customers for petty little things then goes back to gross conversations and observations

I started coming here about a million years ago when I still lived in the ROC. I was a regular of Laura's until 2004 when we (ironically) both moved away to study nutrition.
Flash forward 6 years to 2010. I was living in PA, but was going to be back in the ROC for a few days before heading to a family reunion. My hair was looking relatively pathetic, having just recovered from a seriously unfortunate cut, so I decided on a whim to call AM. I am SO glad I did -- after all of these years, the salon still feels so homey to me. There were only two stylists left
