Boulder Kung Fu Academy
Founded in 2007, the Boulder Kung Fu Academy offers instruction in Northern Shaolin Seven-Star Praying Mantis Kung Fu, Wu Style Tai Chi and Qigong. We teach martial arts for self-defense, health and character development.

Our mission is to cultivate a love and appreciation for traditional Chinese martial and healing arts - and create a sanctuary space for those wishing to nurture and develop their minds, bodies and spirit through these ancient practices. The programs we offer at the Boulder Kung Fu Academy seek to develop the total person.
Services
Our classes are best suited for those inspired to practice regularly in between classes and can commit to attending classes at least twice a week (calculated quarterly). Please note that we observe a traditional class format and therefore do not offer "drop-in" classes. Since tai chi is taught as a sequence of movements, each class builds upon the previous classes a student has attended.
BKFA is a traditional kung fu school. This means the training is based on the foundation and passing on of knowledge of many generations past. We might occasionally talk about things like history and philosophy, but in class we are more focused on the practice and being present. In class, you will slowly build skills starting with a strong foundation in the basics.
If the school seems like a good fit after observing a kung fu class or participating in a trial tai chi class, contact us to begin training. Please note, for both the kung fu and tai chi programs, our school requires students commit to a minimum of attending classes twice a week (calculated quarterly), preferably more often.
I can safely say Boulder Kung Fu Academy changed my life. I began training because I did not know how to channel my anger and frustration, suffered from depression and anxiety, and needed a physical outlet to move my body. Admittedly I also have always been a fan of those cheesy old kung fu movies.
Our studio is conveniently located in the Steelyards neighborhood right off the Goose Creek Path and just steps away from the RTD Depot Square Station at Boulder Junction. We are also a short walk from the flagship Whole Foods Market on Pearl Street and the Google campus. Our private office studio is centrally located near the intersection of Highway 36 & 287 between Boulder & Denver.

I searched in and around Denver to find a good Kung Fu School, and I have to say this is by far the best. I found that the other schools were very focused on profit (aka... buy our unique clothes/shoes which are very high compared to what you find online and lots of pressure to sign a one year contract), didn't have a safe/decent training facility, or weren't really Kung Fu schools. The Sifu at this school charges month-to-month and charges significantly less than other programs. Don't believe me? Check the numbers here and other places. He is also interested in teaching the
