A § 2254 petition, or a federal habeas petition, is a vehicle that allows a defendant convicted in state court to raise his or her federal constitutional claims in federal court for a second review by a federal judge. All rule 3.850 claims can be raised in a § 2254 petition, and other claims involving federal constitutional claims can also be raised in a § 2254 petition.

Mr Ufferman was recommended by my daughters defense attorney after my daughter was sentenced to life in prison. For 3 years Mr Ufferman has been fighting for my daughter. Just a couple of days ago my daughters sentence was reduced to 30 years. Mr Ufferman’s expertise in the courtroom was felt and heard! We are thankful to have him representing our daughter.

What can I say about this man except that he is the most amazing appeal attorney in the state of Florida. For those reading this just know, I post this a year and a half after getting convicted of 35 years in prison. Ufferman got me home quickly and is helping me stay home! This man believes in justice and fights hard for his clients. I would not recommend anyone else for your appeal. He also keeps in constant contact with you every step along the way. We all grow up believing that Justice always prevails, that it's somehow finds its way! That in the United States of America the Constitution is followed. I was convicted in 2018 of 3 felonies and sentenced to a total of 75 years. Thanks to the advisement of my trial attorneys we engaged Michael Ufferman's services before going to trial and lined out certain objections to the trial courts decisions regarding exculpatory evidence. Following my conviction Mr. Ufferman and his team diligently worked my case and won a favorable decision in the 1st DCA. My sentence was vacated and I was release from prison in 2020.
