Services
Bonnerup Funeral and Cremation Service began in 1922 when Jens and Alma Bonnerup opened a funeral home in Albert Lea, Minnesota. Jens was an immigrant from Denmark who married an Albert Lea area native, Alma. The couple worked out of several locations until they settled in their Clark Street location in Albert Lea in the 1940's.
When planning a service, you have many options available to you and we will do all that we can to provide a beautiful and respectful ceremony. No matter your choice, we can offer you a space to join with family and friends in grief, comfort and love. And above all, we will do our utmost to honor your loved one.
Our staff is comprised of dedicated and licensed professionals with the experience to answer all your questions regarding our services. Please feel free to contact any of our staff members at any time. Asya was born in Istanbul, Turkey, and moved to Minnesota in 2000, where she grew up in Burnsville.
When you are faced with the death of someone you love, it is natural to struggle when coping with your emotions. You may feel distressed, shaken, and preoccupied. You might also seek isolation to cope with your own grief. But if you have children, remember that - perhaps more than ever - they need your support at this time.
When someone you know passes away, your first instinct is to offer encouragement, help, and support to those affected - but you may not be sure what to say or do. It's okay to feel this way. Does it matter what I wear? Can I bring the children? What should I say to the family of the deceased? When should I visit?

Stephanie K. was wonderful to work with. She was very accommodating and responded quickly to our emails and requests.
We had provided our own casket and Bonnerup's provided our carpenter with space at their facility to attach the handles.
Bonnerup's went above and beyond to make this difficult time as peaceful as possible.

We were amazed at the personal attention given to every detail important to our family and mother. Steve and Spenser are simply the best! They are so patient, understanding and ready to help family in any way possible. They answered our questions immediately and kindly. Their suggestions were so helpful. They coordinated well with our local church. We didn't have to worry about a thing. Mother had the funeral celebration she had always dreamed about. They even found a Veterans group to provide full military honors for our WWII Veteran on a Sunday when groups don't do that!! We were helped with
