Valor Counseling
My name is Corey. I started Valor Counseling with you in mind. The counseling experience should be comfortable, effective, and frustration free. Finding a therapist that is a good fit can be frustrating. Because I realize that, I will be happy to answer any questions you have before making your first appointment.

I do this to help make the process a little easier for you. I specialize in Adult Therapy, Couples Therapy, and Addiction Therapy. I am located in an easy to get to location near downtown Wheaton. I am currently offering both in person and telehealth (phone or secure video chat) sessions. Appointments are offered on weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

Anger is an emotion that all humans face. Anger can range from mild irritability to full on rage. Anger is also associated with physiological symptoms such as increased heart rate, increased blood pressure, feeling flushed, feeling energized, and more. Our bodies will release adrenaline and noradrenaline hormones to increase our responsiveness to a triggering event.
Anxiety is an emotion that is based in fear. As humans we all have anxiety. Anxiety is generated from the threat detection center of our brain. When we were cavemen it was highly useful for us to be on alert and anticipate potential threats to survive. Anxiety is what allows us to respond to a potential tiger attack by triggering the physiological fight, flight, or freeze response within us.
Depression is a common mood disorder that can range from persistent sadness to not being able to function. Depression is characterized by affecting the way you behave, think, and feel. It is a medical diagnosis and is very treatable. Depression affects all ages, genders, and races. One in every six people will experience a depressive episode in their lifetime.
Grief can come from many areas in our lives. These areas can include death, a relationship breakup, losing a job, health changes, and many other areas. Losing someone or something you love is a very painful experience. The symptoms of grief often lead people to seek further support through counseling.
