Services
What distinguishes our upscale destination-restaurant from other Hill Country establishments? Delectable food served in a relaxed, rustic, romantic setting. And the widest selection of Texas wines of any restaurant in the country. As our Wine Country's fame blossoms, so does our pride in showcasing this amazing regional resource.
We're pleased to be one of the few area restaurants to offer the convenience of reservations. We're unable to accept reservations for outdoor dining due to changes in weather. Outdoor dining is offered on a first-come, first-served basis for parties of four or less. As a courtesy, we're pleased to hold a table for 15 minutes beyond the designated reservation time.
Our focus is on providing the Texas Hill Country's finest dining experience in the evenings. We're one of the few Fredericksburg restaurants that accepts reservations, which are highly encouraged. While we readily welcome walk-in guests, too, as one of the Hill Country's most popular restaurants, we often have a waiting list.

Our group of four dined here this New Year's weekend. Beautiful place. Everything is ala carte, including bread. Two of us dined on their signature chicken fried ribeye with lobster gravy. The dish stood up well to its reputation! Heavenly! The other two in the party ordered filets; one medium and one medium-rare. Their orders came out reversed, which was confusing. Nevertheless, they enjoyed them. One of the diners did not feel the filet merited the $59 cost. We shared the fried pecan pie with whiskey infused homemade chocolate ice cream, and a very rich, sweet molten chocolate

Normally I can compose a fairly eloquent review with no issue... this food has rendered me speechless. From the maple bourbon pork belly app to the browned butter flounder and lobster topped chicken fried ribeye, we were floored. Everything was to die for. If you are in the market for an upscale and unique dining experience, go here. Just make sure you have a reservation if you wish to eat inside. The books open 8 weeks in advance.

We came in with a party of 9, not expecting to sit together, and they wouldn't even allow us to sit at separate tables. They completely refused us entry even though we would have happily sat at separate tables and paid two separate checks. It was my grandpa's 87th birthday and he was looking forward to it, I guess we'll have to try again next year...

We were looking for an upscale dinner for our anniversary and nothing really seemed exciting (or worth the money) until we looked at the menu here. You will not be disappointed with anything. The food, atmosphere, and staff were all far beyond average and everything well exceeded our expectations. Only real room for improvement is to have beer on tap (preferably Altstadt).

We have been here every trip to Fredericksburg. Our past experiences were fine, but not this one. It started when we were told we did not have a reservation. Apparently, if you call to reserve and you get a non -host employee, there is a chance your reservation will not be made! After numerous attempts to find our reservation, the host said that we probably spoke to the concierge, and he has been known to make mistakes with reservations . Why did this become my problem?

The host did tell us he could seat us outside. This worked out because it was a mild night and the weather was agreeable

Wonderful date night with my husband. The food was wonderful. We had the fried chicken thighs and the Strip steak. Husband wasn't impressed with the fried pecan pie as he thought the batter took away from the pie but was much better you ate it with a bite of the chocolate Jack Daniel's ice cream.

We first heard about it from a Texas Bucket List show which recommended the Chicken Fried Ribeye as the best dish in the Hill Country and it did not disappoint.

The chicken fried ribeye was delicious, the FIlet's were delicious, and the wine was great. Overall, my entire family really enjoyed it including our two teenage kids.

Great service by Rich who was knowledgeable about the food and was very attentive.

You will need reservations for inside but we were able to get an outside seat which was a nice atmosphere.

The food in the Hill Country usually disappoints but this is the one

Great food and service in a very beautiful and quant setting. We were seated outside due to no reservations available and being a last minute walk-in but the wait was only 30 minutes as promised. It was cool outside but we were nestled in a corner that was out of the way of the wind and were graciously provided 2 propane patio heaters. I had the Tejas Mixed Grill and everything was delicious. As high of quality as I had in Houston at the Rainbow Lodge for much cheaper! These prices are very reasonable in comparison. I highly recommend if you want an upscale dining experience in Fredericksburg.

Cozy and rustic with variety of small dining rooms for quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Definitely a Texas wine centric selection and menu orientation. I ranked 5 stars as the price point is fair relative to the cuts of beef. The goat cheese w roasted garlic was my favorite, followed by the cheesed grits, very southern comfort. Our friends enjoyed the chickenfried ribeye, which kinda seems like a culinary oxymoron, but there it is. I wished they had blue cheese stuffed olives for the martinis, and a little less salt on the steaks, but that’s just me. Service was very accommodating as we were newbies

Came here for a nice dinner. We didn't have a reservation but they were able to seat us upstairs thankfully. We got the fed ribeye with lobster sause it was DELICIOUS. And the crab gratin for an appetizer. It was also very good but that ribeye was something next level! Very nice place.

One of the best steaks I've ever had, seasoned to perfection! I had the 12oz Ribeye, with cheezy grits and asparagus as the perfect pairing alongside a well made "Old Fashion." We had a wedge salad and the Jumbo Lump Crab Gratin (not pictured), but a must try! Reservations are strongly recommended as this place is one of the best upscale restaurants in Fredericksburg, but worth the wait if no reservations are available. We will be back soon!

This was a terrible experience for me and my significant other while on vacation (literally our worst) and I do not recommend them to anyone with so many other friendlier options.

First and foremost, we read the reviews online and they seemed fine. One or two locals even recommended them so I was happy I booked them several weeks before our trip in July.

When you walk up, you are greeted with the beautiful sights and sounds of waterfalls, greenery, etc. We were impressed and were confident we would have a lovely dinner date!

But, keep reading....

We were seated within about 2 minutes

My sister made reservations at this restaurant after a friend recommended it. My mom, sister, and I planned a Girls Trip to Fredericksburg and this was going to be our "fancy" dinner. I read previous reviews about Cabernet Grill and "Rich" was highly praised as a waiter. Luckily, he was our waiter that night. We started off with the goat cheese and crustini. It was so good! We were also given a Chef's sample of the peach cold soup which was delicious! We ordered the Peach a Rita, which was yummy but we couldn't really taste the tequila as it was a very sweet drink

We had a phenomenal birthday dinner and dessert with my parents. Kudos to Chef Ross Burtwell for the delicious flavor journey from start to finish. I had the grilled Texas wild caught shrimp with a peach ginger glaze and crumbled goat cheese with a side of creamy 3 cheese grits and my partner had the lobster topped chicken fried ribeye with green chili cream gravy and a side of roasted market pick veggies. For dessert we had a frozen adventure flight of housemade ice cream and sorbet that included mango sorbet, raspberry cream, chocolate pretzel, chocolate coconut peppercorn, and bananas foster

Time for an update. We've visited Cabernet regularly for many years. It's our standard for Fredericksburg visits; convenient to the Hangar Hotel, our lodging of choice, and we've always thought of it as a pleasant country steakhouse.

This visit we veered away from the steaks and were wowed by how wonderfully the kitchen is doing now on other dishes.

Wife raved about the ginger lime vinaigrette on the house salad, and my wedge was every bit as delicious.

Sweet chili tempura shrimp was a generous pile of perfectly battered jumbo shrimp; enough that even after offering me two

I love Cabernet Grill in Fredericksburg! Such a cute restaurant with delicious food and great customer service! We loved everything we ordered and thoroughly enjoyed this place. The Texas Twinkie is a must try! This place stays busy so if you want to try it out you definitely need to make a reservation ahead of time.

This place was incredible! Nothing to complain about whatsoever. Superb food, drink, service and atmosphere.
My husband wanted to treat his grandparents for a nice dinner out this past Tuesday, and what a treat it really was! Everyone loved their food, the wine was great the desserts were out of this world. Service was excellent, not overbearing but very helpful server, sit it to Eric, he was great. We all really enjoyed ourselves.
We started with an appetizer that was jalapenos stuffed with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon, delish!
My dinner was the pork tenderloin which I thought was fabulous

Food and service were exceptional. Rich (our waiter) was super friendly and helpful with our selection. The Peach margarita was awesome and I would highly recommend it. I was gonna originally share one with my wife, but after tasting hers, wanted my own! We couldn’t snag reservations but we showed up right when they opened and we were seated outside without having to wait! We would love to come back!

There is nothing that I didn't like here. The location is fabulous. The staff is fabulous. The decor is fabulous. And the food is over the top, blow your mind, cooked to perfection . . . FABULOUS!

I love the "old world" feel this place gives off. The decor is a blend of antique rustic with modern touches. The wine wall upstairs is amazing and I love the ambiance setting lanterns on the tables.

Having cold water with cucumber is a great touch for guests to rehydrate their bodies from this Texas heat. The waiter brought out small cups of "cold soup" as a welcome from the

What a gem hidden in Fredericksburg! The food will blow your mind and the service is top notch but not overly staunch or condescending. Atmosphere is warm and inviting. Had the 10oz steak with Gorgonzola and mushrooms, jalapeño gravy and chicken fry, along with the pictures attached. Everything was excellent and fresh!! I could go on...will definitely return.

Book far in advance!!!

My girlfriend and I made an overnight trip, 2.5 hours from home to take in a wine/crawfish boil near by earlier in the day and then enjoy a debut dinner here later on. We were very pleased... here is why.

Way nice place with a cool upscale, modern dining vibe to it. Yet somewhat rustic and classic as well. Indoor seating and ample outdoor patio/water feature seating as well. We had an RSVP for 530pm and got seated promptly. Sean was our sever and he was on point from start to end. Kind, professional, in tune with all menu details and chef's new happenings past and present. Quite impressive
