We are located at the corner of Lincoln and Main in the basement of the old Keidel Hospital, a beautiful two story rock building built in the 1800's. We offer a varied menu with sandwiches, great salads, pasta, German food, steaks and seafood. We also have a great breakfast. We have a nice selection of beer and wine. And try our famous Peach Bread Pudding with Homemade Caramel Sauce!

Hubs and I have been coming to Fredericksburg every year for our anniversary and we try something different every time. We were slightly apprehensive with Rathskeller as the name in old English means “vicious skull”.
Let me ease your minds… this place is DELICIOUS and though small or as we call “intimate”, it’s absolutely perfect. We started off with spinach artichoke dip which did not disappoint. Dinner was just as yummy with us getting chicken fried steak and fried catfish. Our sides were cheesy mashed potatoes and green beans(hubs had coleslaw). We always try something new each

This place is a gem in Fredericksburg, it opens back at 5pm for dinner. The food is delicious. The place is located in a basement of an 1800's hospital so space is limited and according to the staff the place has a life of its own. Wait staff are very friendly and courteous. Desserts are good. I'd say.that, being located in a german historic town this place lacks at least a couple of draft beer options to accompany your meal.

We randomly came across this place while walking the streets and so glad we did! Off the Main Street you take the stairs to the basement to enter. Felt very European. We had the Chicken Artichoke and the German Sampler. Both were great! And the bourbon pecan pie for dessert. Would definitely order them all again! I give it 4 stars because this is one of the loudest restaurants I’ve been in. With stone walls and concrete floors and a tiny enclosed space, don’t expect a quiet meal. Not that I want a quiet meal, but I at least want to hear the people I’m with without having to yell. You can
