Services
Students are part of The Relson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Association - Hawaii's most award-winning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu team since 1988. You will immediately notice that our school culture is one based on genuine friendship with each member striving toward higher levels of training and personal growth every day.
Our mission is centered around promoting excellence within the art of Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and to continually improve and move toward higher unity and growth as a team and individual membership. Providing an optimal training environment wherein the art known as Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is taught in its purity and in its entirety.
Adult class times are switched to an open mat format on minor holidays such as Memorial Day. Kids classes are not affected by minor holidays and are run as normally planned [with the exception of Halloween - kids classes are closed]. RSA cares for our youngest members by helping them develop and thrive socially, mentally, and emotionally and teaching them Gracie Jiu-Jitsu I'm a safe and fun environment. No cameras or phones are allowed near window ledges to protect the privacy of our students and teachers. At RSA we teach children Gracie Jiu-Jitsu in its purest form and practice with a focus on developing character and perseverance.
Our adult members can be described as respectful, considerate and help each other train to be the best they can possibly be. The RSA culture is based on all-around authenticity, positivity and maximum effort. In order to fully appreciate the art and lifestyle of Relson Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, internal methods of assessment such as self-satisfaction should be the absolute goal.

I've been training jiujitsu for 5 years on and off. I got the chance to train here for a month while I was visiting the island. I really enjoyed the vibe here as the instructors are pretty helpful and Ronn is the head instructor who has immense knowledge and such a nice guy and he will try get to know you personally. Everyone is very friendly and train hard. Has a good mix of self defense as well. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to improve their game.

My son who is turning 6 in a few months wanted to try martial arts. So we asked around town and Sensei Ronn Shiraki and Sensei Vergil from Relson Gracie Jui Jitsu School was highly recommended. I took my son for a free class to see whether he would like It. To My amazement my son was so happy and listened attentively to Sensei Ronn's instructions. I not only watched my son participate but also watched how Sensei Ronn communicated with the young kids. I've been training jiujitsu for a little over 20 years, the last decade being with Ronn Shiraki. I've been lucky enough to have met some of the best jiujitsu practitioners and coaches in the world throughout my jiujitsu career, and would put Ronn right there at the top of that list... both as a practitioner himself, and as a coach. His teaching is second to none. He is GREAT with both kids and adults alike. RSA is the best place on island to learn, train and develop your jiu jitsu skills. The environment is very clean and the students extremely welcoming. The academy students range from beginner to high level experts and everyone is eager to share their knowledge. I have been fortunate enough to travel and visit a decent amount of jiujitsu academies during my time in military service and I must say, Ronn Shiraki Academy "RSA" is a no-frills environment. The members show up, suit up, and get down to business. Very diverse levels of skill and experience with one goal in mind, improving one aspect of yourself every training session.

Leaving a review for a jiu jitsu academy is a lot different than picking apart the latest and greatest ramen or plate lunch on Yelp. For me, it's more than the first impression, more than giving it a try because hordes of Elite Yelpers said so. It's about finding an environment that you're comfortable in, enough so that you leave your insecurities behind. Starting out in jiu jitsu with that white belt tied high and tight could have been a really bad memory. Smiles and good advice go a long ways. Things loosened up quickly, thanks to the good vibe and calm energy that exists here

I been training with Ronn for the last 10 years and still to this day there is no other place I would like to train. Ronn and the other instructors are great at breaking down techniques so that it is not only fun but easier to understand. My jiu jitsu has come along way over the years and that is all accredited to Ronn & Master Relson. Normally gyms have a lot of egos and certain types of ppl but Ronn does a great job of incorporating humility as well as confidence. As cliche as it sounds RSA is more than just a gym, we are more like a tight niche family.

Not many jiu jitsu schools have a very close lineage to a Grandmaster as does Ronn Shiraki's school. With that being said the source of training is still closely aligned with Grandmaster Relson Gracie. The knowledge that Ronn along with the other instructors has been phenomenal. From the fundamentals to self defense to competition training, Ronn Shiraki will provide the training that you seek.

I have been an athlete my whole life. I am a personal trainer, an IFBB Figure Professional Athlete, a bodybuilding judge, and have competed in many different sports throughout my life. After winning the IFBB Hawaii Pro in March 2017 I stepped on the mats at Ronn Shiraki Jiu Jitsu Academy. Since that day I have been hooked! Before you buy a new car, you give it a test drive. Choosing a jiu-jitsu school should be the same way. Why commit to signing a contract without knowing for sure that the dojo and sensei are the right fit for you? That's why I love the fact that RSA offers a free private lesson for anyone interested. You can even do the private lesson with a friend or family member. Ronn lets you experience his instructions first hand before making a decision and if you do decide to join the school, unlike other places that make you sign a 12 month commitment, RSA does not make you sign anything.

My husband and I were visiting from California. I guess we were missing our home BJJ gyms. Ronn was super friendly and we bought a few Relson Gracie shirts from him. It appeared to be a great environment. We saw plenty of colored belts which is awesome! Ronn even invited us to take a class on our next vacation!

Teachers are super nice but many are lower belts. It's kinda junk to pay for an hour of black belt time but only receive 40 minutes (due to late starts and early dismissals)of lower belt time, even when the black belt is in the other room or shower.
There are only 2 days of kids classes and some go way too late for school nights.
It doesn't seem like the kids receive much one on one training. Classes are so big and there are so few teachers, kids just get a quick example and are left to attempt to do it in a room full of kids messing around instead of teachers walking around helping

I'm just getting started at RSA Hawaii. If your serious about losing weight and learning martial arts. This is the place to go.
