In 2006, Access to Healthcare (AHN) was born of a realization that too many Nevadans were uninsured and that something could be done about it. Sherri Rice, the CEO of AHN, sketched out the first Shared Responsibility Model-demonstrating how the entire community could join forces to reduce the number of uninsured Nevadans without overburdening any one group-on a cocktail napkin.
The principals that it laid out remain at the heart of Access to Healthcare today. Sherri Rice joined forces with her colleague Niki King, who had worked with her at the YWCA and is the former COO of AHN, and together they began building an organization to serve the healthcare needs of Nevada's forgotten poor.

This program is fantastic and affordable! I believe that if you communicate with your care coordinator, you will be successful on this product. My care coordinator explained the process in detail so that I would know how to best to use the program for my needs since I suffer from several chronic diseases and mental health issues. Everyone in Access Medical is kind and compassionate, thank you Dena Miguel for all your help and making sure I saw the specialists I needed. Without this program and the providers that participate in it, I would not have a very good quality of life.
