Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten
Visit our FAQ's page to learn more about how our school implements Waldorf education for the young child and how it benefits their long-term development. BWK is a magical place. The teachers share so much love with our children. When my daughter is home, she's always singing and creating beautiful games for us to play. I know that much of this joyfulness carries over from what she has heard and learned during the day at school. Our family feels incredibly lucky that a place like this exists.

I marveled last week at their harvest festival as I watched the new tiny baby goats running around their pen, children huddled around the old wooden apple press as they made cider from the apples they had gathered the day before, other children laughing as they stuffed a scarecrow, others enjoying the homemade butter and delicious bread, apple, and kale chips.BWK is one of a kind.
Services
Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten & Preschool is an early childhood center serving children ages 12 months to 6 years. We are a learning community where children can be children and imaginations come alive. BWK is situated on a beautiful one+ acre farm with chickens, goats, rabbits, biodynamic and organic gardens and fruit trees.
At Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten & Preschool, the environment is carefully prepared to create an atmosphere of inspiration for learning. Our classroom is a beautiful and inviting place filled with soft colors, flowing play silks, and a nature table with items that the children have collected outside.
I have a 4 year old and 2 year old at BWK and they both just love it there! The teachers and staff are so wonderful and you can really see how they care about your child(ren). Not only is it a safe, fun environment for my kiddos, but BWK has helped bring my daughter's spark back! Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten is quite simply the BEST in the business!
Developed by Rudolf Steiner in 1919, Waldorf Education is based on an understanding of human development that addresses the needs of the growing child. Waldorf teachers strive to transform education into an art that educates the whole child-the heart and the hands, as well as the head. The curriculum unfolds as the child grows and meets their ever emerging curiosity in a way that coincides with their natural inner growth.
If your child cannot get vaccines because of medical reasons, you must submit a Certificate of Medical Exemption to the school, signed by a health care provider licensed to give vaccines. You only need to submit this certificate once, unless your child's information changes. You can get the certificate HERE.

Boulder Waldorf Preschool and Kindergarten is the BEST! Our family wasn't familiar with Waldorf until our daughter started this past fall during the COVID outbreak. The teachers are supportive, caring, good natured individuals who use nature and simplicity to inspire the children. We haven't seen much of the inside classrooms but the glimpses we have seen show a calm classroom with beautiful, natural materials and colors. This has been an exceptionally challenging time with the global pandemic but the school administration has been clear with its directions and very informative when action needs

Our oldest child began attending BWK at the beginning of 2018, and her younger sister joined the toddler class the following summer. Both have had a wonderful experience at this beautifully rustic school, and we are grateful for the creative and safe space held lovingly by all the teachers that we have known. The current pandemic has surely put a lot of stress on the owner, director, and everyone working at the school, but it is evident to our family that they are doing their very best to continue to make BWK a magical place.

BWK has been an incredibly solid foundation for our children's early childhood experience. The teachers are unbelievable and what they provide for our children in terms of care and nurturing is unparalleled. Our family has spent almost 8 years there and all of them have been amazing.

This was my first experience with a Waldorf school and I have to say that despite initially positive impressions, it was ultimately very disappointing.
The physical environment is very nice, but unfortunately the staff and especially the management, do not seem to have the capability or interest in working through interpersonal issues that arise among the children. Instead they prefer to take a CYA approach of excluding (including suspending) children whose behavior they deem inappropriate. We experienced this first-hand and heard from other parents whose children were subjected to same treatment

We’re part of this kindergarten since 2017 and by now our 3rd child is currently enrolled there! We absolutely love this school. The teachers and director are doing such wonderful work and we feel very happy to be part of the community.
During this special times right now I even appreciate it more that my child is in a safe and loved environment.

After two years of preschool at Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten (BWK), my son is heading off to BVSD Kindergarten as a grounded, caring, and kind young boy who has a sense of wonder about the world around him and a deep love of nature. I can say without a doubt that the wonderful staff of BWK has helped foster these qualities in him. As an additional testimonial to our satisfaction with BWK, our second child will start preschool there this fall.

BWK is the most magical, sacred and beautiful place for a little one to explore! The teachers are so grounded, loving and present with all of the children. Their knowledge of child development, combined with compassion and experience, supports both the child and the parent in having a profoundly nourishing, safe and playful time. We especially love the connection to the natural world, the animals and creatures, things that grow, things that live. It has been a dream to be here! Thank you, BWK!

My attempts at describing my child's extraordinary experiences at BWK always fall a little short. It's hard to grasp just how much attention, delicate discipline and spiritual guidance the teachers are able to dole out day after day. The dedication and outpouring of love is priceless. The only problem for me, as a parent, is after my son graduates, BWK is a tough act to follow. My standards are so high now that I have seen what a school can offer.

My daughter and I have been forever imprinted, enriched and blessed by our four years at BWK, including summer camp. Initially, this kindergarten was a solution for quality childcare as I returned to work, but as time went on it became our community within Boulder. We still maintain close relationships with other parents and children from those beloved days. In fact, some of our closest friends were made during our time there. My highly sensitive child was lovingly welcomed and developed a part of her personhood via the gentleness and caring of its teachers and founders. Her experiences of play

Our children have attended Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten since 2011 and we truly love it. In a town filled with wonderful preschools, BWK is a shining star. The love, attention, and quality of care our girls have received has surpassed our greatest expectations. We see their imaginations, sense of self, love of animals, and compassion toward others develop through the setting and curriculum BWK offers. The owners and teachers at BWK have had a wonderful impact on our childrens' development. We give BWK our highest recommendation.
