Village Preschool is a place where childhood is respected and protected. We provide ample time for imaginative play, practical work and age-appropriate curriculum. Following the Waldorf education model, the Village aims to support every child by providing opportunities for practical, creative, and imaginative play in a cocoon of routine and daily rhythms.
Services
The Village Preschool is located in Santa Cruz's banana belt, where long hours of sunshine provide an excellent growing environment. The school is located in the backyard of a the historic Morrissey Farm House, with deep connections to the earth and community. Our preschool program runs from Monday to Friday with a morning program from 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. and an afternoon program from 1 p.m. and 5 p.m.
Waldorf education, founded by Rudolph Steiner, strives to holistically integrate students artistic, practical, and intellectual development, emphasizing the role of imagination in learning. The basis of early Waldorf education is to encourage a reverence for the world and understanding that it is a good place to live.
