Services
Open Valley's Toddler Program is designed to be an interactive and exiting experience between family, the classroom, the teacher, and the children. Your child will learn to formulate sentences, count, discover their artistic and musical skills, differentiate between their emotions, and learn about the world sorrounding them.
Thinking, or cognitive, skills develop as children learn to think more complexly, make decisions, and solve problems. As young children explore, ask questions, and create, they improve their thinking skills. Reflecting on and using information lets your child understand the world around him. The way children approach learning is also an important part of their thinking skills.
The Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK) is a program created to prepare every four-year-old for kindergarten and build a strong foundation for their continued educational success. The VPK provides each child the opportunity to perform better in school and throughout life with a quality program that includes high literacy standards, accountability, appropriate curricula and qualifies instructors.
The early elementary school years present children with educational and social challenges; challenges that can be easily faced with self-confidence and skill. At Open Valley, our unique system offers enrichment programs for Before and After School. We feature an environment that combines freedom and structure with the right mix to inspire, while assuring your child's safety.
At Open Valley we offer many camp programs throughout the year. Our camps are exciting, safe and innovative. They are well planned by our qualified camp staff and provide children ages 4 to 11 with a memorable and enjoyable camp experience. The school used to be good, yes but now the administration has gone off the rails, horrible covid management and removal of loved teachers. Quick piece of advice, do not send your child here.
Also on the recent field trips for 6-8th grade, They forced a massive group onto a tiny 5 by 2 foot rug and we had to flip it without getting off. Playing was mandatory and I was not allowed to quit the activity.
In terms of masks there is so much wrong.
1. Overly strict mask rules for students, loose mask rules for teachers
2. During times without masks they allow the students to sit right next to each

I was there for 6-9th grade (first trimester) and unlike cheese or wine it did not age well on me.
The class size for their first year ever with a 9th grade reduced to 8 students. (Reduced from 23 students some parents saw it coming and ran)
With the vast diversity of the young target workers (attire)
We were regularly mistaken despite the clear age difference for target employees.
While some teachers were nice or cool there were an equal number that probably should not have worked with children (anger issues)
I will never forget the Spanish teacher who smacked a student and was fired.

One of the top schools in the state and our experience has been second to none. Love the school, the teachers, the curriculum and the extracurricular options they offer. And most importantly our kids absolutely love it and have flourished there. I can't think of a better academic option K-8 in the Northerner suburbs and it's free to attend. Lottery based admittance system.

I have been at this school since the day its doors first opened. I was part of the first grade class for the first year ever. I have watched many great teachers come and go. Ive watched this school come from a tiny charter school to an amazing school with some of the best memories. This school is amazing and if you want your children to have long lasting friendships and meet some amazing teachers as well as having great academic progress please send them here
