Services
The exact origins of any martial art are obscure, although there are any number of historical theories and timelines. The most pragmatic view is that the martial arts did not originate in any one country but evolved as systems of self-defense shared and distributed as humanity migrated. Additionally, history is written "by the victors" and is strongly influenced by politics, finance and other factors.
Tang Soo Do is both a "hard" and a "soft" style of martial art, with the soft internal influence coming from the ancient Korean art of Soo Bahk Do and from Northern and Southern Chinese systems. Its hardness comes in part from Okinawan karate influences. There are different ways and diverse aspects of karate-do - each with their path to equal growth and effectiveness.
Oakstrong Martial Arts offers classes covering each of the different aspects of Tang Soo Do karate. Come experience the power of positive reinforcement - while getting a good workout, enhancing the ability to defend yourself and learning an ancient art. Currently we are offering twice-weekly karate/self-defense classes in Felton, CA for beginning and experienced students.
Our instruction employs various formats to teach skills in a highly controlled, super-safe and noncompetitive environment. Excellent for those wishing to learn core karate skills, self-defense strategies / techniques, and qigong exercises.
Self-defense is not just being able to physically defend yourself - importantly it's about preparation, recognizing the signs, and having a strategy that can be used under pressure. Oakstrong Martial Arts offers public seminars for individuals and private self-defense seminars for small groups.

We specialize in self-defense for women, teens, schools, business teams, and social workers - we understand the specific situations, threats, and concerns being faced.Strategies - How to recognize threats and understand the stages of a violent encounter. Also, a simple mental framework to evaluate if a situation could become dangerous, setting boundaries and giving consent.

Hello Everybody,
I have been training with Neville from Oakstrong Martial Arts for well over a year now. He is not only a very patient and knowledgeable martial artist but truly a great guy. Neville is easy to talk to and has a great sense of humor. He is a very passioned and experienced instructor which reflects in his classes and the way he teaches his students. You will not only learn how to punch and kick in a safe environment but Neville will also teach you the philosophy behind the martial arts, which is something I really enjoyed.
