All dentists at Smart Pediatric Dentistry are either board certified or board eligible pediatic dental specialists. This means that after dental school, they attended two additional years of specialty training focused primarily on treating the dental needs of children ages 0-18 years of age.

Smart Pediatric Dentistry has the specialized equipment, facility and staff to properly address today's most demanding pediatric needs in a warm and caring environment. The first "regular" dental visit should be no later than your child's first birthday. And at our office we do check-ups for kids under age 3 for FREE! We will gently examine your child's teeth and gums. X-rays may be taken to reveal decay and check on the progress of your child's permanent teeth under the gums.
We work with you to maximize your insurance reimbursement for covered dental procedures. As a service to you, we will contact your insurance company and verify your dental coverage. We will estimate the insurance payment so that you only have to pay the portion not covered by your insurance. Please bring your insurance information with you to your appointment so we can verify your insurance correctly for you.
Children who are very young or who have a high level of anxiety that interferes with the cooperation necessary for the dentist to perform treatment may require some level of sedation. Sedation is also helpful for special needs children. There are many safe and effective drugs available today that can help relax the child and promote a good environment for optimal and safe dental treatment.

My girls have been seeing Dr. Smith since they were both 2 years old, they’re 17 & 13 now so to me that is saying something about the whole experience. Dr. Smith has always been honest and works so well with his patients. I’ve also loved all of his staff and they have always been so kind. The office is clean and fun for kids!

We always had a 5-star experience in the past, but today my small daughter accidentally bit the dentist's finger in what was an honest mistake--she had been asked to bite down on gauze for a while, but then they asked her to open wide. She didn't hear the new instructions because she was watching a movie with headphones, so she bit down again on accident. The dentist yelled at her, bringing her to tears. I'm sorry about his finger, but it's hard to believe that a dentist would be so unprofessional.

Dr. McDonald and his hygienist worked on all four of my kids today and they were absolutely amazing! The hygienist were so sweet and patience with my kiddos. Dr. McDonald explained everything clearly so I could understand and was patient with all my questions. He made my youngest feel so comfortable while she was getting a tooth pulled. I highly recommend Dr. McDonald and his staff at Smart Pediatrics!!

We love Smart! They have a really friendly and welcoming space- with cute rooms and arcade games in the waiting room. The dentist has always been really kind and informative and patient with the plethora of questions I tend to have. So far we've loved every assistant we've had. My kid has come to be entirely comfortable at the dentist.

We have been coming to this office for a few years. My son is terrified of dentists and has sensory issues with being touched in his mouth and the staff and doctors here are amazing. They are fun and patient and so helpful, and today my son was able to have his teeth brushed and done in the office without too much issue which is a huge deal for him and I know so much of that credit goes to the wonderful staff who helped him feel safe and comfortable. I can’t recommend this office enough!!
