The Chinese Shaolin Center of South Salt Lake is dedicated to keeping the traditional martial arts and disciplines of the Shaolin Temple. This centuries old art, it's exercises, and disciplines are suitable for practitioners of all fitness levels. Classes are structured for Adults although this center accepts students of all ages above 10yrs old.
What you will learn here is the best and most traditional kung fu, tai chi and self-defense used by Shaolin monks for the last 1500 years. Even though the Shaolin martial arts are lethal, self-defense is only a tiny portion of the art's many benefits.

Our Beginner Tai Chi Class is an introduction to the Internal Arts and Meditation. Each Tai Chi class begins with meditation and the continuous chi kung postures. We then practice the 24 posture combined tai chi chuan. Afterwards we break into small groups and learn the fundamentals of this particular Tai Chi form including the fighting applications and push-hand training.

I found just what I was looking for here. The school has a friendly, supportive, and professional atmosphere. The material is presented in a way that makes challenging material learnable, even without prior martial arts experience. The instructor is highly knowledgeable and passionate about the art. I highly recommend this school!

Best decision I made has been deciding to take classes at this location. Both the Tail Chi and Shaolin are wonderful. The instructors are patient, helpful, and great to work with.
However, it also gives other benefits with practice, such as confidence, discipline, self control.
Mastery with time and effort.

Started Tai Chi because I wanted to get some flexibility back into my body. The slow movements and form was ideal for this and I went on to taking Kung Fu lessons to further gain mobility and strength and it is working.. I am in my 60's and didn't think I would get as much mobility as I have, and would recommend this as an exercise, strength, and flexibility training for anyone.

I have been studying kung fu at this school for the last 6 years. I decided I like this art over others because it's not a military martial Art Like Tae kwon do. This art was developed by Chinese monks over 5,000 years ago. This class expects respect but if you show disrespect you are not reprimanded in front of the whole class or forced to spar your instructor instead the instructor kindly talks to you afterwards. Also we teach dozens and dozens of weapons. Master Chris helps each student to understand the fundamentals of self defense. The classes are cheaper than most schools cause we offer 1

My daughter loved studying martial arts at this location. This school's founder was the first to become a grandmaster of _all_ of the traditional Shao-Lin styles. So instead of a few dozen forms to learn, this school eventually teaches hundreds (more than twenty styles of Kung Fu, and many styles of Chi Kung, e.g., Tai Chi). They also teach all types of weapons (more than 20). The variety makes it useful for all scenarios, as well as getting you in good shape (I should train there as well!).

The Chinese Shaolin Center is THE place to go for legitimate Shaolin kung fu. I have been a student for about 6 months now. It is great atmosphere that is not full of little kids and is taken very seriously by the students who attend.
It is incredibly affordable and and high class. Classes are held Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturdays. If you are interested in learning the art of Shaolin kung fu AND tai ch'i the Chinese Shaolin Center is the place to go. Sifu Chris Callado is extremely helpful and informative. He is very willing to help you individually during practice hour with any detailed

I've been learning and practicing Kung Fu and Tai Chi at the Chinese Shaolin Center for a couple months and love it. I started with the hope to better center myself and get a good workout. It has certainly done that and more. I feel better than I have in ages. I wanted somewhere affordable, that wasn't full of little kids. I found it. Sifu Callado is a patient and kind instructor helping me to learn the art. I would recommend his instruction to anyone wanting to pickup Tai Chi and/or Kung Fu.
