Aikido Mountain West
We are not currently offering a kid's program, however, we anticipate restarting the program as soon as it becomes feasible. Aikido Mountain West delivers world-class aikido training in a safe and welcoming environment, through senior instructors' collaborative partnership. Together, our experienced instructors offer a contemporary approach to training in traditional Japanese martial arts and ways.

Aikido is a Japanese martial art that focuses on ethical conflict resolution. Founded by Ueshiba, Morihei, aikido employs sweeping circular movements, joint manipulation, pressure points, sweeps, and throws; all in an effort to blend with the attacker's energy and leading it towards de-escalation. Aikido develops a calm and joyous spirit and promotes a host of health and wellness benefits.

Aikido is a Japanese martial art that centers on ethical conflict resolution. Founded by Ueshiba Morihei, Aikido employs sweeping circular movements, joint manipulation, pressure points, sweeps, and hip throws. This unique self-defense system uses the force of an attack, gravity, weight distribution, and momentum to unbalance and subdue an attacker.
Muso Jikiden Eishin-Ryu iaido is a traditional Japanese art of drawing the sword. Our school, or ryu, is comprised of seven sets of prearranged techniques called waza or kata, depending on whether they are performed alone or with a partner.

Each waza has five distinct elements: drawing the sword (nukitsuke), raising the sword overhead in a defensive manner (furikaburi), the downward cut (kirioroshi), blood removal (chiburi), and replacing the sword in its scabbard (noto). Each waza has a scenario or practical application that explains, informs, and clarifies the movements.
Mat fees are designed for visitors from out of town or members from another dojo to pay per visit, otherwise, you will need to pay a membership fee. At this time, you must show your vaccination card before getting on the mat for an all-vaccination class. For the safety and health of all students we are choosing to base our decisions on CDC guidelines and state/city/county mandates and we will be updating periodically as things evolve.
Aikido Mountain West delivers world-class Aikido training in a safe and welcoming environment. Aikido Mountain West is built upon a shared recognition that an organization is defined by its people. We know each other personally, value and care for our training partners, and seek joy in our practice.

I've been training at Aikido Mountain West for almost 3 years now and have really liked the people, the teachers, and the organization. The teachers do a great job and really enjoy the art (both Aikido and Iaido). The organization is really organized (not always the case for non profits) and has great communication. The dojo itself is lovingly decorated and maintained and is a great environment for training.
They provide fantastic value at a very low price. Well worth giving them a try at the very least! But be sure to do it properly and sign up for at least one month.

I've trained here since it opened, and it's an awesome place with great instructors. Each teacher has something different to offer. You get a great feeling of community as an adult student.
The kids also seem to have a great time.

In other martial arts I've been involved with, you need to "pay your way into the family" here, you are family.

The Aikido Mountain West Organization is fantastic, and I am honored to be a part of it. By being in this organization, you will learn a lot because you will be given an opportunity to put your heart and soul into this martial art.

I have trained with Belka Sensei and Roach Sensei and they are both incredible martial artists, excellent instructors and they are great people in general. They have a very deep understanding of Aikido and I have learned a lot from both of them. I have also had the privilege of meeting a couple of the other members of the board of trusties at a… recent seminar and they are great Martial Artists and teachers as well. I learned quite a bit from them in the brief meeting that I had with them I can only imagine what insights and teaching they can provide if you were working with them on a more

I know Roach Sensei to be an excellent martial artist, and if that is possible a even better teacher.
