The activities and curriculum designed by our teachers support science, math, literature, small and large motor work, social and ecological responsibility and presentation and public speaking skills. When children play, they are experimenting. Play is about self-discovery, self-analysis and self-awareness.
For over 75 years, the little schoolhouse on Pine Grove Avenue has welcomed bright-eyed little people into its warm and nurturing environment. Our goal is simple - providing children with a foundation to be confident, happy people and for years of loving to learn. At Mary Meyer School it is not just about learning skills, but also about life skills.
The Mary Meyer School, a fully licensed and NAEYC accredited, nondiscriminatory, independent, not-for-profit school, serving children aged three and four years old. The school offers two class sessions daily, morning and afternoon programs that each accommodate up to twenty children under the care of three teachers.
The school's curriculum is the sum total of all the child's experiences at school, rather than an aggregate of academic subjects taught. Children learn by doing and through purposeful play.

Since the world of the future cannot be fully anticipated, we believe that reasoning, solving problems, exploring ideas, experimenting and reaching conclusions, engaging in creative work, and interacting with others help to educate more fully than mere training through academic drill and memorization.

This place, the teachers, and everything in between is just incredible. There is so much kindness, respect, creativity, and fun all around at the Mary Meyer School. From the minute we visited this magical place, we knew this was where we would love our son to attend. Since he started in August, Mary Meyer School has been a school our son has learned skills that will help him throughout his entire life. The school embodies a community feel where I can't help but smile and spread the word of this tremendous preschool and what it brings children.

As a parent with a child in the second year at Mary Meyer, I can confirm that this school delivers on every metric - curriculum, staff, community, and a true collaborative effort to introduce a child to a life long love of learning and to cultivating the social and emotional skills necessary to lead a happy and healthy life full of friendship. The school has truly exceeded our expectations in supporting the individual needs of our child to learn in a play based environment. The sense of community and family is also always present. Walking into Mary Meyer is a highlight of the day for our entire

Purely magical

I am a parent of a MMS student and this place is off the charts amazing. From the moment you walk in, you get a sense that this school evokes the memories and feelings of what childhood is meant to be.

The teachers are so warm and focused on a child's growth and allowing them discover themselves. They learn so much in this play based environment and they are able to experience nature, the arts, sharing, empathy, friendship, etc....

Having done all the tours and school fairs, etc.... There is such a feeling of community and home that my child took to me leaving him from

Yelp, you let me down on this one. First off, the name is Mary Meyer School. Not Meyers. Yea! I'm smarter than Yelp.
More importantly, how did you miss this gem entirely?!? I mean that. What am I missing that 9000 yelpers have not converged on this school for a proper review. From what I can see and what I hear, this is the gold standard in Chicago. Oh, well, let me weigh in with my personal thoughts after touring this school on my assigned checklist. Let's get that yelp ball rolling.
This place is so far the only 5 star on my list. It is absolutely the best of the best in terms
