Classes at The School of Respect are a fun, well structured way to get moving and grow your hand eye coordination. When you join as a white belt, you will begin with the basics. Front kicks, single punches and the like will help grow your muscle strength and agility over time. You will start at white belt and learn the required beginner hand and foot techniques to pass the first belt test in a few months.
GALLERYIn these pictures you can clearly see the technique that goes into a martial arts kick or block. There is a certain elegance that goes beyond expectations. Many do not realize the true art that is Taekwondo. Most martial arts are known for the fast paced combat aspect.
And though all martial artists are expected to practice contact sparring before they can become a black belt at The School of Respect it is not the full focus of what we teach. In fact, some students enjoy practicing their blocking and forms the most. In its origin, the taekwondo form was made to look like a dance in order to avoid the rule of the Japanese.

Our interaction with Master Ron & Master Molly started when another parent and I were looking to introduce Taekwondo in our kids elementary school as a after school activity. During the first meeting we knew in our hearts that they are the ""family"" for us. The values they inculcate in the children of mutual respect, discipline, self-control are paramount.

This is the BEST martial arts studio in town and it is run by a family of moral, freedom-loving people.
At the School of Respect, they teach you not to be the bully, not to hang out with the bully, and how to take the bully out when you're cornered. They do this most effectively by practicing what they preach. Here at the School of Respect you will never be forced to wear a mask or get an experimental jab in order to be a member, nor will you be ridiculed for choosing otherwise. There's a reason why other martial arts studios are struggling to keep and gain members, while the School of Respect

My kids have just started at the School of Respect and they absolutely LOVE going. The Masters are professional, kind, and very knowledgeable. I'm excited to watch my children grow, learn, and express themselves from the values they are learning at The School of Respect.
ETA: My kids have been attending classes now for 4 months and they still love going. This family run business truly makes you a part of their family as well and build up kids in a very "it takes a village" way. They have been incredibly helpful in getting my kiddo back on track for being respectful and obedient at school. Both

I generally was forced to do this review by my mom, but that doesn't mean I won't tell the truth here (plus it's nice to support this nice place). The people at this place are very welcoming and well, respectful as you could have guessed. They are all a family, so it's easy to communicate between them and feel welcome. The masters are very easy going at the beggining and so far have paced my training pretty well with my generallyun-fit body. Also yes, I was very nervous with coming in because everything about the place can look a little complicated or intimidating at first. But after the first

Our son has been going to School of Respect for a couple of years now. They have been great in getting our son interested in Taekwondo in a very unique and effective way. In just a couple of years our son is now a green belt and has enjoyed every class. He looks forward to going every time, and when there were a few times we had to miss class, he was bummed. That says a lot about the friendliness of everyone there. The way that the masters teach discipline, respect, manners has also been extremely helpful. Additionally their adaptation to the difficult times we all experienced last year was amazing

I attended the School of Respect for 5 years and felt nothing but love and respect from the family that runs it. It is a wonderful place to go whether you are looking to learn some self defense or are seeking a positive and respectful influence for your child. Martial arts is challenging but is made fun by the School of Respect family. They provide leadership opportunities as higher level students are given the opportunity to help teach the lower levels. Very family friendly environment, 10/10 would recommend :)

The School of Respect is an amazing and caring place. They helped my greatly when I was struggling and made me a better person. The Masters at The School of Respect are like family to me, they took their time to help out everyone and made their dojang a safe space for me. I am incredibly thankful for the help they all gave me, I wouldn’t be the person I am today without them. I cannot express how loving the Masters are, they build a personal level with each of the students and their families. I achieved a Black Belt through their program and won many gold medals through tournaments even though

My son has been going to the School of Respect for almost 3 years and loves it! We are very happy with the school. It is great for teaching kids respect, confidence, and discipline. The school has excellent teachers/mentors, the program has been extremely flexible during these COVID times which our family greatly appreciated. All in all a great program and wonderful family!

Said it before and will say it again, if you are looking for a place to take your child to learn martial arts, look no further and head over to the school of respect. It is a school where your child will learn more than the skill of martial arts. The name says it all. It is a school of respect. Your child will develop good character traits and habits. He/she will have fun in the company of other kids who are growing and learning to be better people. The masters' dedication to instill good and responsible behavior in each child is always a priority that parents like me see all the time. Decision

This school is family run, with family focused curriculum, and is recently the #1 martial arts school in Hillsboro Oregon! If I could have participated in that voting platform, they would have had my vote as well. Respect, discipline and confidence--what this world could use more if. Character building, the side effect ;)

We signed up for a year of taekwando for my six-year old and I wanted to wait until we had given it a year before I could give a true review. Eleven months later, here I am... Let me start with this: If your child is in need of "taming" or needs to be taught respect, this dojang is definitely for you. After a few months, my daughter was bowing to flags and remembering to say, yes ma'am or no sir to her Masters, but she really hadn't learned taekwando forms, stances, etc. We brought this to the attention of the "Master in Charge" and she moved my daughter up to a bigger

I have attended School of Respect with my son and daughter, 10 & 13 years old for the last almost a year now. My son has also attended the the A+ after school program and the summer camps over the last year.
The School of Respect doesn't simply teach Tae Kwon Do, you don't simply earn or achieve a black belt, you BECOME a black belt. In the last year there were some students who received their black belts and I had the privelege of spending a class period listening to each of them read their essays on the meaning of that black belt. Becoming a black belt is much more than kicking

Our kids started with the School of Respect A+ (summer and after-school) program around 2 years ago. Our daughter had taken some Tae Kwon Do sessions and had been begging to join a gym. We met with several gyms but the after-school program at SoR really won us over, not to mention the Masters at the gym.
Over the last two years, we have seen a noticeable difference in the kids' behavior - they've always been good kids but their improved responsiveness and respectfulness are making life easier at home and I think for their school teachers as well. The Masters excel at follow-through,

My son started at this school after winning on a prize wheel at a market event when he was 5. We tried the free classes with the uniform and he loved it. The family/owners were welcoming, and helpful. A few weeks in my mom started to notice the way the main little tiger instructor, "Master Zach" would humiliate the kids if they were not up to par with the best kid in the class. He mimics, scolds and is nothing short of a bully at times. I looked past what she saw because my son was earning his tapes, making friends and learning the art of martial arts and changing at home and at school

We are newer to the School of Respect (SOR). We signed up a 7 year old that was in need of some positive direction in his life. The team of people at SOR provide an environment that teaches and reinforces the values that young people need; self respect, respect for others, dedication, being kind & caring, growing confidence, being honest and responsible.....sometimes teaching these things means having to address undesirable behavior. What I have witnessed is a consistent approach to growing and molding their students. Master Molly, Master Zach, Master Sami (and the rest of their team) are

There is only one option do what your told here or your attacked. Listen to the other reviews. I walked in looking for a family martial arts center, while they went to get me a flyer while waiting I noticed a sign "we will pay you $20 for a positive Yelp review". I should of left then... The flyer arrived we discussed options and they have an intro special, sounded great. But as a family on a tight budget the monthly fee is critical. When I asked about it I was informed only one person could answer that and it would be a week. Oh okay I said that's odd I remarked, seeing the adults

My son has been going here for over 6 years now. We love this place. It has been and continues to be a positive atmosphere and influence on my son. They have been instrumental in teaching the importance of discipline, respecting people, building his confidence, believing in one's goals and pursuing them and standing up for things that are important.

Praise report! I am overwhelmed with gratitude right now! There just aren't enough words to express how grateful I am for the School of Respect. Since signing Abby up she has improved in so many ways! Not just at home but at school as well. In how she interacts with people in general. I just got out of Abbys parent teacher conference "which have NEVER been fun" and she got nothing but praise from her teacher! Her motivation and confidence have ALWAYS been the main topic at EVERY conference. The teacher had 0 complaints regarding those concerns and said that abby is among the most

Our kids were called out and embarrassed in front of class. They were left feeling ashamed for wanting to participate in activities other than taekwondo (like soccer, dance, basketball, or baseball). We watched this happen with countless other families. If there were any questions or concerns they were never addressed in a positive or constructive way. Anything wrong is always and without question the customer's fault. "They never question the Master there." Not a confidence builder in my opinion. Save your time and money. If you want a program that builds up your kids, look
