Divorce and custody disputes are extremely painful. My goal is to do everything possible to get you the best possible result. I believe in "going the extra mile" for all of my clients - and no one will work harder for you. If you are considering divorce or separation, you don't need a novice representing you in court.
If you have an ongoing Michigan court case involving child custody, parenting time (visitation), child support, or spousal support (alimony), you need a family law lawyer with a lot of experience. I've been before virtually every judge and family law court in Southeast Michigan, including Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb County.

In Michigan, there are two types of divorce - the type where you have children under the age of 18 (coded a "DM" case "divorce, minor children") and the type where you have no children of the marriage or your children are over 18 and graduated from high school (coded a "DO" case). If you start a divorce case without minor children, you need only wait two months before finalizing the case.
There are two classifications of custody in Michigan -- "legal custody" and "physical custody." One of our Michigan Custody statutes defines legal custody in terms of the power of a parent to make important decisions regarding the child. This has been understood to mean decisions about the education, religious practices, medical, and other health care issues regarding the child.
Most parents don't know that Michigan has one of the most powerfully worded parenting time statutes in the nation. A parenting time shall be granted to a parent in a frequency, duration and type reasonably calculated to promote a strong relationship between the child and the parent. B a child has a "RIGHT" TO PARENTING TIME unless it is shown by clear and convincing evidence that it would endanger the child.
In Michigan, with a few exceptions, all child support is figured from a table or book called the Michigan Child Support Formula (MCSF). Both parents' income is figured from a chart much like a federal tax table. The number of children and the number of overnights each parent has with the children is figured into the calculation.
Some spouses hear that alimony is an old law that is no longer used because long-term stay-at-home wives are a thing of the past. Part of this is true and part isn't: Yes, it is true that more and more women are entering the workforce than ever before. And the divorce rate in Michigan is at about 50%.

I thought divorce was simple so I tried to file and do everything by myself..Divorce is difficult and stressful and time consuming. Everybody need somebody during this difficult time. My somebody was my "Mr. Bill". He stepped right in, mid divorce and finished it with a bang. I appreciate his patience. Thank your for helping me get to my next chapter in life!

Bill is definitely the man to hire! He took on my case willingly although it was considered difficult, he kept me updated and informed as my case progressed and worked diligently ensuring our goal set was met, in my case it was divorce. He is extremely thorough and was there to make sure I understood the process and what to expect. He answered any and all of my questions and concerns, Bill went above and beyond to help me with my case and got the job done!! I would recommend him to anyone in need of a family lawyer, you will not be disappointed!

I paid him a $1500 retainer for a legal separation where me and my husband were in agreement ( no arguments or fighting) we got a court date the same week I canceled the separation filing he claimed he had worked 9 hours on my case, doing what I don't know but he only refunded me $155. I am glad things worked out for me and my husband but this man and his practice is not right, then asked me to refer him, right.

Awesome. I got ahold of him in January and explained my (extremely) messed up situation. Bill talked with me for about 2 hours on the phone before even mentioning money and was very helpful and knowledgeable. He walked me through every aspect of my case and would answer calls on weekends, and even on holidays. Hes a very good lawyer and Id recommend him to anyone needing the services he offers. In my opinion he goes above and beyond what most lawyers do, and thats a rare quality these days.

He is really busy and it is my opinion he should have more staff. But I will say he is the only attorney I have ever had that freely gives out his cell phone and will actually answer on weekends (especially if you are a new client). However, he made mistakes that an attorney of his skill should never had made. He actually messed up through clerical error and being too busy to proof read his motions that after several years, I realized (thanks to the Friend of the Court bringing it to my attention) I had been paying the support amount for two children instead of one. In fact, when the child turned
