Services

She guides clients in developing and implementing creative strategies to both find their "voice" and reach their personal and professional goals.
Bindas is one of the most amazing therapist I have ever met and worked with. I have never met anyone like her. I had been working with someone for 10 years before meeting with her and had made little progress. I had to stop working my anxiety had gotten so bad. I was at the point of giving up and had just gotten out of the mental hospital when we had met.
Dr. Amelia Bindas offers a wide array of counseling services for adults, adolescents, and children. The aim is to help you think more positively about life and free yourself from unhelpful patterns of behavior. Therapist and client set goals and client works on homework between sessions to reach that goal.
Individuals and couples come to Dr. Bindas seeking a divorce with dignity. Others come to Dr. Bindas merely considering a divorce. They may discover their marriage is retrievable, and resolve to maintain and strengthen it. Alternatively, they may realize divorce is a necessary and positive step forward in their lives.
Recently divorced clients, having spent years focused on their families, seek her guidance in identifying an education, business or career path, as part of a life transition. Adolescents and young adults just beginning to research careers, benefit from her guidance in evaluating and defining education and career goals.

Dr. Bindas cares deeply about me as a patient and as an individual. Every time I walk into her office I feel seen and heard in a way that inherently validating and comforting while also regularly encouraging me and challenging me to go further in my personal growth. When I came to Dr. Bindas I was lost in a lot of my tendencies and felt out of control; since seeing her, I have met myself in a way that I didn't think was possible. I'm so appreciative of the work that she does and I recommend her to anyone who genuinely wants to improve their quality of life and mental well-being.

A completely awful experience.
I was contacted the evening before to come in for my initial appointment. Due to the lack of time to get a sitter and being new to the area, my two children had to come with me.
She made them (2&5yrs old) wait in the ill-lit waiting room because ‘they shouldn’t hear anything we’re going to talk about’. The first 20mins was nothing but her arguing with me about my insurance. Telling me I needed to call them to get the code she needs, she doesn’t know how to bill them.
After that, she talked about herself a lot. How I needed to get on some medicine

Dr. Amelia Bindas helped my family immensely. I began seeing her once a week in December 2018 and still do, eight months later. She's an expert at helping breakthrough substance abuse and addiction and she's the most caring therapist I've ever seen -- available day and night and dedicating weekends to counseling through her many programs. She has a sweet therapy dog named Bunny who sits quietly and her office is a very tranquil and soothing place. My life has improved 1000% since I started seeing Dr. B.

I really wanted to like Dr. B, and really tried. While there were some positives to my time with her, there were more negatives. The majority of the sessions were HER talking but rarely listening. She often talked over me, cut me off mid-sentence, or dismissed things that I said. More than once, she said things with derogatory racial implications, which made me very uncomfortable. Even when called out on this, she never seemed to notice anything wrong with what she said.
I finally had to cut ties when I realized that her goals were not the same as mine. She's very achievement oriented, which would

I am a Junior at George Mason University and am a long way from home. I just transferred to Virginia this year and was struggling with the adjustment. I was referred to Dr. B by a friend on campus. I was very impressed with her. She taught me coping skills and academic skills. With her help, I am now getting straight As and have a prestigious internship set up for next semester. I am so glad I decided to stick it out with her. I recommend her to every college student who needs an extra boost.
