At Haughton Law Group, P.C., we offer more than 20 years of experience. Our decades of legal practice mean that we can analyze your case quickly and accurately. Since our firm was established in 1993, we have acquired extensive knowledge in our chosen practice areas and also knowledge of the customs of the courts, judges, and attorneys throughout North Texas.
We work hard to resolve cases fairly as soon as possible and we always advise against filing cases where there is likely to be no recovery. Our founding attorney has proven, time tested skills in both state and federal courtrooms. He is a very experienced litigator, able to explain complicated legal concepts in terms that are easy for lay people to understand.

This firm is outstanding to work with. They were great to answer all of my questions and concerns. I was treated with respect. It is very evident all members of the team have a genuine concern for their clients and strong family values. I would recommend this firm without hesitation to anyone who asks.

We typically represent both plaintiffs and defendants in civil cases such as business disputes, contract disputes, and real estate disputes. We handle consumer defense for people being sued by banks or credit card companies. We also handle family law cases, which are a special type of civil lawsuit.
Both parents are legally obligated to support their children, however, in Texas Family Law cases the non-custodial parent is the parent responsible to pay ordered child support. In Texas, we have managing conservatorship and we have possessory conservatorship. The managing conservator in Texas is the conservator with most of the rights to determine what's in the best interest of the child, like where the child lives and goes to school.
In Texas, a divorce starts with a petition. The petition is filed with the District clerk and then the district court clerk issues a citation, which is served on the other party. That party has 20 days and until the next Monday at 10:00 AM to file an answer. In Texas, you must have a petition on file for at least 60 days before you can finalize a divorce case.

Actually would give less than one star if I was able. Lack of communication during my divorce process. Months would go by without communication. A fairly cut and dry divorce turned into a seven month drawn out process. After mediation and finalization of the decree, I had to ask through several emails and several phone calls to receive final paperwork so that I could proceed with selling my home. Still waiting on that documentation and I my divorce was finalized over two months ago. Would not recommend counsel with this Law Firm. They expect payment without fulfilling the entire process.
