Anchor Children and Family Counseling, Inc., is a group private practice located in Pasadena, California. Each of the therapists at Anchor offer unique insights, drawing upon their individual training and life experiences. Anchor therapists use mindfulness, art therapy, play therapy, dramatherapy, and traditional talk therapy to help clients live more fulfilled and happy lives.
We help clients with ADHD and school related difficulties, executive functioning challenges, eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, depression, and more, including helping people through life transitions such as transitioning from preschool to kindergarten, navigating challenging family changes like divorce or the birth of a new sibling, flourishing in emerging adulthood, raising children and teens, and/or caregiving for a family member with dementia.

Services
Owner/Executive Director, Dr. Melissa Springstead graduated from the University of Southern California with a BA in Psychology and worked in an elementary school as a teacher assistant. After a few years of teaching and tutoring she went back to USC and received her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy.
Anchor's Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists, Neurofeedback Technicians and Nutritionist are independent contractors. Anchor's practitioners are not insurance providers but do offer sliding scales and can provide a superbill for you to request out-of-network reimbursement. Please contact us for more information!
Dr. Melissa Springstead is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with experience teaching, tutoring and providing psychotherapy to children, adolescents and their families. Often time students in today's world feel overwhelmed with all that is expected of them. Between academics, extracurricular activities, social and family obligations, students (and parents) often feel burnt-out.
I have experience working as a therapist in school-based counseling programs for kindergarten through high school students.
Because of my time working in school-based counseling, I have experience working with a broad range of presenting problems, including but not limited to: anxiety, depression, attention deficits, aggression, divorce and parent separation, trauma, gang involvement, substance abuse, domestic violence, child abuse, family conflict, eating disorders, autism, selective mutism, LGBT issues, teen pregnancy, and low self-esteem.

Ashley is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #93673 who has worked with Anchor since being an intern and now a licensed therapist. Ashley works with individuals, couples, and families experiencing a wide variety of psychological, behavioral, and relational problems.
