Schoppenhorst Underwood & Brooks
Our directors provide every service with an expression of excellence that offers a living tribute for those we are honored to serve. Schoppenhorst on Preston Hwy is one of the largest funeral homes in Kentucky. One of the reasons is our superior preparation room staff, John Bishop, Barry Lawson, Kirt Fry and Ruth Domanek.

Their work is acknowledged supreme in Kentucky. Note to other funeral homes: They exclusively use intermittent drainage. Also, those who make arrangements include Angela Caldwell, Alyssa Wolf, Tiffany McKinney, Benny Evans, Maureen Purcell, Lisa Rambo- Clark and Beth Reno. This is their calling and they do it well.
Services
Staff members of Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks Funeral Home are caring and experienced professionals who understand that each family is unique and has personal requests and traditions. These requests and traditions are of utmost importance to our staff of licensed funeral directors.

Ben Underwood attended his Grandfather's funeral in 1943, he witnessed an old time tradition where the casket was lowered into the grave with all the family gathered around. This is a practice that has faded away over the past years. Since that time, he told everyone he came into contact with of his intense desire to become a funeral director.
Most of us plan ahead in life. We plan for our wedding, our children's education, family vacations, and other significant expected life events. We also plan for the unexpected events of life by purchasing home, auto and medical insurance. Understanding the benefits of pre-planning has prompted many to take the step to plan their own arrangements.
Many who have undergone the emotional strain of arranging a funeral within hours of losing a loved one have made the choice to pre-plan their own funeral. Doing so lifts the burden from their loved ones by relieving decision-making pressure at a time of grief and emotional stress. Funeral arrangements are a deeply personal choice.
Someone you love has died. You are now faced with the difficult, but important, need to mourn. Mourning is the open expression of your thoughts and feelings regarding the death and the person who died. It is an essential part of healing. The following articles provide many practical suggestions to help you move toward healing in your unique grief journey.
Most of us are not prepared to plan and carry out a funeral ceremony for someone we love. And so much of the information available on this critically important subject fails to focus on what is most important: having a personalized, meaningful funeral that helps families and friends begin the healing process of mourning after the death of someone we love.

My Grandfather couldn't even say goodbye properly to his wife of 52 years. We witnessed a horror show today when we burned my grandmother. She was ripped out of the hearse by the cemetery hands slammed in to the burial vault then hoised in mid air in front of all of us swinging and swaying then they put her in the ground and covered her as fast as possible. She deserved better then that my Grandfather deserved better then that!

I give this place a one star rating because of the funeral director we dealt with. The facilities are outstanding , very beautiful. All of the staff that I spoke with on the phone were nice and courteous The actual funeral director we dealt with was horrible. We had to plan a memorial for my brother-in-law, my wife met with Charlotte to plan the event. The price was very reasonable and my wife really liked the layout of the place. Charlotte continually tried to rush my wife with the decisions about how to memorialize her brother. After making the arrangements we went to meet at the Mt. Washington
