We are a full service veterinary facility for small animals, including exotic pets, and provide ambulatory and 24-hour emergency services for horses. We have been providing quality veterinary services in this area since 1996. We are located on Pontiac Trail between 8 and 9 Mile Road, just North of Kroger. All of our doctors strive to provide the highest standard of medical care to our patients. They regularly attend continuing education events to bring you the latest information to help in the care of your pet.
Services
We offer full-service small animal care as well as ambulatory and emergency equine care. We continue to update our services to bring you more options and better care for your pet. As these services become available we will bring you information as to how they can help care for your animals and bring them longer, healthier lives.
Behavioral problems in our pets can range from having a negative effect on your relationship with them, to causing serious medical problems. Behavior disorders can result in self-induced trauma, property destruction and ingestion of potentially harmful items. Fortunately, there exist many treatment options for problems when they are addressed early including behavior modification, supplements and mood altering drugs.
When considering surgery for your pet, laser surgery is an option for you at our clinic. Laser surgery does not use traditional scalpels or scissors for cutting tissue, but rather heats the water within the tissue to cut and cauterize at the same time. This method seals blood and nerve endings, resulting in less pain, bleeding, swelling and chance of infection as well as creating faster recovery times than traditional surgical options.
Nutritional counseling is a major part of our practice and we regularly discuss diet and nutrition at appointments. From the first puppy or kitten visit, the importance of the proper amount and type of food is discussed. Good nutrition doesn't have to cost a lot of money, and our doctors have recommendations to improve your pet's nutrition at nearly any budget.
Why your aging pet may be slowing down. It is such a common complaint that we hear it nearly every day. An older pet is "slowing down" or is "just getting old". Unfortunately, age is not a disease and does not by itself cause any ill effects on the body. Rather, the symptoms so often associate with aging are a result of one or many physical or metabolic problems in our pets.

The staff at this clinic have been the absolute best in regards to tending to my McKenzies health needs. Dr Henderson is the best vet doc I have ever dealt with. She is very, very knowledgable in the veterinary field and her diagnosis is always spot on. The staff at this clinic are the best and always treat my McKenzie as if she belonged to them personally. I have had dogs through out my entire life and this is the best vet clinic by far! I highly recommend this clinic for all your family pets needs!!

They always take good care of my senior dog, Buddy. He has been a loyal client since he was a puppy and he is 16 years old now. We love going here. The staff and doctors (especially Dr. Ferguson) are always very friendly, helpful and understanding. They put up with my worry wart ways and understand that Buddy is my baby. I highly recommend going to this veterinary clinic!

Took 2 months on a response for surgery then once he had surgery they said he had dissolving stitches.....🤦♀️🤔 well you left a regular stitch in him and never even called to see how he was doing. Not happy with the turn out on either of the surgeries you preformed. We will not return nor recommend.

We have been going to this vet for the last four years and have seen a negative path in regards to customer service and responsiveness.
I have had several not so good experiences here lately and the last one made us take the decision to move to a different vet. This was when our puppy took a small piece of chocolate. We wanted to make sure that he would be ok and called the vet. First comment was that they were too busy and did not have time to assist us or see him that day. Nothing about how much did he take or anything else. I had to discuss with the secretary to actually get to speak to a knowledgeable

We have been a part of the Lyon Vet Clinic since 2011 when we brought our first home. We knew nothing about having a dog. However, thanks to the team at LVC, we learned how to be great pet parents. Now we have two and they are extremely well cared for both home and medically. Highly recommend this office/family.

I love this vet - I adopted a rescue pibble- she was 10 years old when I got her- the vet was so kind to her (she had never had a vet visit) gave her shots and tests, no problems- On our most recent visit my dog was wagging her tail and happy to see Dr. Ferguson and that means a lot! Having your pet be comfortable and no stigma being a rescue pitt - awesome- prices very good too and no hard sell on unnecessary tests! Won't go anywhere else- they also squeezed her in during the pandemic when I had a concern with her spay scar- no charge except antibiotics (her spay was through a different entity

I didn't feel comfortable here. The doctor I felt talked down to me about choices I was making as a puppy owner and didn't discuss with me what the cost of the visit was. I was given a flea and tick prevention as well as heartworm prevention that I didn't ask for, nor do I like the brand they gave me and was forced to pay for. The visit was too expensive for what they did. I will not be going back.

My fiancé and I took our dog here to get neutered. They were very informative before the surgery answering all of my questions and even calling me to make sure I didn’t have any confusion. They were very prompt on the day of, and the surgery went very well. My dogs doing great, and the cuts healed fast and clean. Would highly recommend this vet.

This was our first time at Lyon Veterinary Clinic and we couldn't be happier! We have found our "Forever Vet" 😊 The entire staff were amazing from start to finish. They were so accommodating, knowledgeable, and just down right good at what they do. They made us and our pups feel so comfortable. We highly recommended them and look forward to working with them for many years to come.
