Neglecting the proper maintenance insures a steady decline in the unit's performance while the energy use rapidly increases. The most important part is to replace or clean the filters. By not cleaning the filters regularly, dirt and lint collect on the blower wheels and inside the coils causing more problems.
As you all know Scott and I are in Lake Tahoe on a Redlhammer family vacation. My mom is back in sunny south Florida at the house. The upstairs central air unit broke 2 days before we left on vacation, Munson's (family owned father and son business) came out right away and was a God send. Very reasonable and trustworthy.
