Services
In 1971, the federal government created Area Health Education Centers as an academic-community partnership to "improve the supply, distribution, diversity and quality of the healthcare workforce." The Central Massachusetts Area Health Education Center, Inc. (CMAHEC) was established in 1982 by the University of Massachusetts Medical School as part of a statewide system of six regional offices, the MassAHEC Network.
The Center for Health Impact (CHI) helps organizations and communities develop the sustained capacity to promote health and well-being. Our multi-disciplinary team will work in partnership with you, your organization and your constituents to develop sustainable organizational systems, stronger leaders and enhanced team capacity.
Welcome to Language Link, the Center for Health Impact's innovative Interpretation Service. Through Language Link, we provide our clients with well-trained and experienced interpreters to facilitate effective communication in clinical and conference settings. With the support of the MassHealth Access Program and the UMass Medical School, our language specialists facilitate communication between patients and providers within healthcare settings.
For every project you entrust us with, a skilled team of translators, editors, proofreaders and quality control specialists ensure cultural and contextual accuracy and appropriateness. This allows your project to break down barriers, facilitate communication, and effectively reach your target audience.
For over 35 years CHI has been at the forefront of building the capacity of community members, healthcare leaders, clinicians, community health workers, medical interpreters and other front line staff. We host a wide array of professional development opportunities to ensure our training and workshop participants acquire the skills necessary to help reduce health disparities.
