It was a fair enough stay - however, they didn't clean the rooms unless you call the night before (due to covid) which is an oxymoron because they have a mandatory mask mandate here. One would think that to help to stop the spread of covid the hotel would be all about sanitizing and making sure to go in and do at the VERY LEAST a vacuum. I will definitely NOT be suggesting this to anyone anytime in the near future.

The accommodations were nice and the hotel was clean. My biggest issue is the cost at check out. I got home from our stay and looked at my credit card statement. I had a 287.00 extra charge for the time we stayed. They charge 28.00 per day for parking and 25.00 per day resort fee. So the price you pay on line is no where close what you will actually be paying. Add 53.00 per day to the cost you see. I will not stay here again. I don't like resort fee and parking games. The hotels we used on the rest of our trip had none of these charges. So buyer beware!

High praise for the Hotel Zags! Local Portlander here booked a staycation when it was HOT and my apartment had no AC. Had a great visit, it was so comfortable and the room felt high quality, and I can't not rave about the customer service of the front desk people, really took care of us. They are pet friendly, I've never brought my cats to a hotel before happy to report it was painless here! They have parking available, I think usually for purchase, depending on your deal booked.
The Hotel Zags is really in the heart of downtown, walking or biking distance from everything. AND

Hotel Zags has friendly, great staff that were eager to assist. This was also mirrored by their restaurant. Despite appearing to be short-staffed, (which I hope management is working to resolve to support their workers) our restaurant host and cooks were professional and the food was very good.
The only hangup I had with Zags was the amenities were a little lacking in parts. The shower was wonky and got stuck at times. Our TV had consistent glitches and hiccups the majority of the time we had it on. Plus one of their two elevators were broken.
Overall Zags has strong members on their staffing

I found this hotel to be on the expensive side. After paying for the room, which the price was reasonable, online, there were surprises on check in. There was an amenities fee and an expensive parking fee. That added $57 to the room for one night.
The room had a few problems. The door slammed loudly if you did not hold it when closing it. The cable tv was iffy. Sometimes you would get no sound and have to re-start it to make it work. The phone in the room had a broken hand piece so to call the desk you had to use the speaker. The heating system would make loud bumps like the door was closing

We had such a great stay! The game room/lounge was amazing. Our kids (14 and 11) thoroughly enjoyed it. There was pool, darts, shuffleboard, a hacky sack type of game, board games, TVs, tons of seating of different types, etc. we spent hours there as a family disconnected from our phones and it was really nice. The room was comfortable but not huge. We had plenty of room for the four of us. The beds were firm which made my husband happy, me not so much. The bathroom had full size shampoo, conditioner and body wash. That is awesome for a family of four. You do pay for parking but it&apos

Parking was spacious and they were nice enough to let us park a couple extra hours after check out to grab breakfast & coffee. We were doubled charged in error. This is near the college so it has a dorm room feel. You can see the wear from College kid use. We also had foot prints on the mirror, which I can obviously tell why.... There is a cool hang out/wreck room where you can play games, pool, watch TV. It looked pretty cozy. The pool tables was very worn though and the slate was pushing up, making a good game of pool not likely. There were a couple cool features though. Free $15 credit in the

What a breath of fresh air. They loan out really nice bikes and skateboards for free. At check-in, you spin a wheel of fortune for prizes. The room was modern and tasteful, quiet and comfortable. Gated underground parking. Jeanine at the front desk kept track of the details and took good care of us, saving a trip back to the room after our keys had expired.

I will never stay here again. The staff was young, inexperienced, and dressed so informally that it was hard to tell if they worked there or were guests. We experienced issue after issue and were just told to "be patient." If you are staying in Portland, I'd recommend staying literally anywhere else.

The employees are great. Hotel is not great. Only one elevator working, need to update into. No restaurant for breakfast as stated . Only small plates for dinner. Refrigerator overheated, they came to fix next day. That was good . 2 out of 4 bed side lamps working. Mirror in bathroom is loose . Bathroom floor had spots. Staff is helpful and friendly. Gave us an inadequate room but quickly made it right.

Excellent location, very accommodating guest service and rooms were clean. there was only 1 working elevator which got real annoying really fast with some customers cussing about only 1 party on the 1 elevator, really unfortunate that there wasn't any stairs but the staff was doing what they could about it. there was also bikes and such that could be rented which is nice and the hotel seemed really safe especially for being downtown

This was the best hotel weekend getaway I've experienced. The amenities were uniquely accommodating to enjoy the city atmosphere with the use of their outdoor rentals and more. I will definitely recommend Hotel Zags to family and friends. Thanks for the experience. Parking was pretty full after an evening out making it difficult to find a spot, so utilizing public transportation is recommended.

My husband and I weren’t super pleased with this place. There are hidden fees. We paid more for parking and “amenities” than we paid for our room.
We were also stuck in a cold room for a few hours. We tried to troubleshoot ourselves and had no such luck. We called the front desk (on our cell phone because the room phone didn’t work) and the front desk asked us to troubleshoot ourselves and to check in later if it didn’t work. I tried explaining that we did already. After some time, I called again and unfortunately had to wait for help due to only one person being at the desk. He couldn’t

Why the 2 stars? Well it went downhill the minute we checked in.
First room:
shower handle came off
Slow draining sink and shower
They moved us to a different room
Second room:
Dirty sheets
Dirty bathroom
Loose sink faucet
Slow draining sink and shower drain
Also don't park at the hotel, it's VERY Overpriced to park. Park on the streets after 7pm, it's free till 7am!
Honestly don't see how this hotel is a 4 star hotel.. there's nothing amazing about this place that stands out from the rest. The hotel fee is absolutely ridiculous. Do yourself a favor, stay at Marriott

Not sure where to start with this place. We chose it because of its location though it had lots of varying reviews. Immediately, we were blind sided with a $25 amenity fee (the only amenity being the courtyard?) and in turn they tried to fluff the blow with a credit to their store area. We continued to our room, only to find blood on the ceiling and carpet. (Check attached picture). We brought this up to the front desk staff, and were assured it will be taken care of, though did not offer to move our room so they could clean it. They never came. Also on the first night, the toilet broke twice.

I stayed in this hotel many times in the past, before it became Zags (my sister lives nearby), so I am qualified to comment. Very recent stay with NO housekeeping was miserable -- two grown men in one room for four nights with two towels is not a good thing or a pretty sight. I was told by staff to let them know if I "needed anything." Isn't it obvious? I recognize challenges presented by CoVi, but couldn't they have set some fresh towels outside the door? Or made it more clear in connection with my reservation? I sent two emails to the hotel, and no one responded.

I booked this hotel through booking.com. When I got to the location they tried to charge me almost $200 in hidden fees, and then told me that these fees were listed in their policies.
When I called booking.com they did not see any of those fees that they were trying to charge me for.
Do not stay here it's overpriced & they are not honest on the third party sites they advertise on. Their policies are NOT accurate at all! They charge $28 a day for parking, but their policies on booking.com said $47. Also they charge $25 a day for amenities which was not listed on booking.com.

I wonder if it is "racialism"? I've stayed in the Hotel Zags Portland for 4 times in the past year, and sadly I suffered what's called "racist and xenophobic" treatment by an employee.
