I'd like to share a few personal thoughts and observations with you about myself and my work. I realize that finding the right therapist to lead you through the complex issues of your marriage and relationship is not an easy task, and I'm hoping that these brief remarks will help you make the right decision.
Over the years I've noticed that happy and successful couples, the ones with enduring and fulfilling relationships, have just as many problems as unhappy and unsuccessful couples. The difference is that happy and successful couples are able to talk to each other; they talk to each other honestly, openly and respectfully without criticizing their partners as they share thoughts and opinions.

Uncontrolled and inappropriately expressed anger is a major problem in relationships and in families. Anger and domestic violence is present when an abuser repeatedly and unpredictably uses intimidation and threats of physical force to control others. These threats often lead to physical assaults, resulting in bodily and psychological harm to spouses, partners and other members of the family.
Most of us experience some form of anxiety in the course of day-to-day living. The cause of anxiety is not fully understood; however, traumatic life events appear to trigger anxiety disorders in people who are already prone to anxiety. Genetic traits may also play a role in how we interpret life events and how we react to everyday stressors.
It's normal to feel down sometimes, but if that mood continues day after day, it could mean that you are depressed. Unless depression is treated and stabilized, it can have a negative impact on your relationship and interfere with achieving the results that you are seeking in Couples Counseling.

I have been seeing Mr. Sherwood for a couple of months now and have found his counseling sessions extremely helpful. I was skeptical about whether seeing a mental health provider at first and scared of being stigmatized. I suffer from a chronic illness, which can be physically and socially isolating. In my sessions with Mr. Sherwood, I am learning how to take better care myself mentally and physically. What I like best about our sessions is that they are more like conversations and feel less like doctor’s appointments, which I already have so many of.

John is a fantastic counselor and therapist.
Finding the right person with whom to share your thoughts and feelings is not an easy task; I have experienced several therapists that were simply not the right fit. It's a process that requires patience and a willingness to be vulnerable, and John personifies both of those qualities while allowing the space and room for the patient's own level of comfort.
He is extremely knowledgeable and has extensive experience in both individual and couples therapy, and he has never been one to simply tell me what I wanted to hear — he is always extraordinarily

John Sherwood is an excellent counselor. I felt I had to post a comment after reading a derogatory comment from a former patient. Without having to fully divulge personal reasons for seeing him, I can honestly state Mr. Sherwood is competent in his field. My son was having issues in school and home for years, I searched high and low in the SA area and could not find someone I would entrust my child's mentsl health care to. He was referred to me from a former patient of his. I was so impressed with his sessions with my son, that I had my daughter see him as well. We're have had great success with
