Congratulations to Richard Esteras, who won a headshot from me a few years ago. Richard is building up a crazy resume that started with something like 11 independent and student films in one year. Just recently, Richard has been on Chicago PD, APB, and has a part in the movie DeathWish. You might be here because you read my article on the Second City website, 13 Things Taylor Swift Does That You Don't.

I also have another one titled 6 Ways To F@#k Up Your Headshots. Any attempt to use these images without the consent of John Henry Abbott will be met with the provisions of title 17 of the U. S. Code.

As social media becomes more integrated with business, your image, your first impression, becomes even more important. I approach executive headshots with the same attention to detail that I use when photographing performers. I start by asking the professional what they want the image to say about them.
When I worked for a college newspaper, we were always looking for great images to catch people's attention. But first, you need a photo that gets their attention. That's where I come in. Three of them were submitted to newspapers, and three of them were printed. Its a lot cheaper then printing hundreds of flyers and spending days on end distributing them.
One of my favorite assignments was working for an auction firm here in Chicago. When you photograph antiques and collectibles, you receive an education every day. On this day, the account executives from the auction house asked me to accompany them to the home of a client. The 4-sided couch in the center was up for sale.
I took a workshop with Jodi Collins, a top casting director in New York, and she felt that my headshot was the best in the class. She said that my photo looked more like me, than did anyone else's match. She also said that that's what they look for, and that you captured me perfectly. John was everything I could have hope for in a photographer.
I picked up a camera at the age of 13. My parents gave me my first SLR for high school graduation, and I attended Columbia College majoring in Photography. I recieved my bachelors in Fine Arts in 1992. While in college, I took a couple of acting classes and a dance class in anticipation that I would be photographing actors.

Unprofessional doesn't quite describe this failing business. My 12 year old niece produces higher quality images for free. Save your money and time.

I saw the previous good review and decided to give it a try. Not sure if they changed the owner. Bad taste. Very disappointing.

I contacted John Abbott Photography to get my headshots without a clue what "look" I exactly wanted or what the experience was going to be like. I'm new to the acting/improvising/auditioning scene and John asked me a series of questions to get an idea of what looks might work for me. To the point, John is a complete professional and will provide you with answers to questions you wouldn't know to ask. I am thoroughly pleased with the variety of shots taken and will definitely use John Abbott Photography again if and when I need to update my headshots.

I can't say enough about how amazed I am with the head shots I had done by John Abbott. He takes the time to get to know, walks you through the process, and is very passionate about his art. The photos I had done were some of the most sincere and honest reflection of me as a person; which is what I want for my head shots on auditions. John was professional, courteous, and efficient. The shoot went so well I had a hard time narrowing down which pictures to use. If you are looking for a quality photographer I would highly recommend calling John Abbott.
