Our preschool uses the McKee Language system, a program for teaching children second languages in an atmosphere of play. Children are functionally fluent in Spanish in less than 500 hours. Dr. McKee has proven, that with developmentally appropriate activities, modeled in an atmosphere of play, love and excitement, kids learn the language and are completely unaware that they are being "taught" Spanish.
In this natural learning environment children develop the skills of a second language in our Spanish language preschool. A child's brain is twice as active as an adult's brain and still in development as they grow to adulthood. In this developmental stage a child can learn a second language 8 times faster that an adult.

Our story started more than 50 years ago with Dr. Trevor McKee (1933-2001). He wanted to develop a way to teach his children Spanish at a young age. He was shocked at how difficult it was despite his years experience as a Spanish teacher.
Through many years of research and experimenting with different methods, coupled with an advanced degree in human development and psycholinguistics he was able to formulate the best process for children to learn a foreign language in.From his achievement, he was able to develop the McKee Language System, a method for successfully teaching children a second language starting as young as age three.

Considering today's global economy, being able to speak a foreign language is invaluable for any adult. If you think about it, there are only a few things that you can do in your child's preschool education that will impact their future.
Preschool Children at McKee Language Schools learn Spanish in an atmosphere of play. The learning environment is similar to a birthday party: the children learn without ever really thinking that they are being taught Spanish. In a day at McKee, children will rotate through 25-30 minute hands-on language-rich activities in six centers taught in a 100% Spanish immersion setting.

My child is bored with his other preschool because he already knows most of what is taught.
We have students from locations all across the Salt Lake Valley, but also from a wide variety of other locations across Utah. Because of the methodology and success of our program, we have parents who commute so their child can learn Spanish through our SLC Preschool, commuting from locations found north, south, west, and even east of Salt Lake.

Our daughter, Violet, loves going to "Spanish school." We drop her off every morning and she comes back three hours later telling us of her adventures and showing us a new art project. The teachers (Janet, Ade, Nellie, and Betty) are warm and welcoming. Although I don't speak Spanish, my husband does and he is very impressed when he speaks to Violet at the end of each day. I would highly recommend McKee Language school to any parent looking for a great summer program for their child.
