The Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home, Inc. was originally founded as a proprietorship in 1953 by Russell C. Schmidt in a traditionally German neighborhood in Erie known as "Marvintown". The funeral home was located on a single lot on the corner of Pine Avenue and Marvin Avenue. Russell C. Schmidt was born in Erie in 1909 and lived his entire life in Erie.

Hi everyone....We were dealt with the unexpected passing of our nephew and loved one and he was taken into the care of the Schmidt funeral home...We drove the 100 miles
to Erie for his private wake....The funeral home
was easy to find and we arrived a short time before the family....The grounds were well maintained and very clean with ample parking...
We were welcomed into the funeral home by
Mr Dennis Schmidt...He was very kind and very
compassionate about our situation...A very large
and beautifully laid out funeral home....All aspects from decor to comfort were exceptional.....Our nephews
