Just Cats Veterinary Clinic proudly serves the medical needs of the Fredericksburg, Virginia area kitty cats. Our hospital is privately owned and personal rather than being part of a large system of corporate facilities. Dr. Kathy grew up in Fredericksburg, received a B.S. at Duke and her DVM at Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Pete (pictured) was a few days old when a Good Samaritan brought him to Just Cats and Kathy took him home. He later suffered from urinary tract issues and underwent perineal urethrostomy surgery.
Cats are sneaky about their body language and their symptoms are difficult for many Moms and Dads to interpret. We start by leading you through a detailed discussion of what you have observed at home. You may not know how to pull all the signs you've seen together but most often we find that your "gut feeling" is correct.
When illness requires care that you cannot provide at home, we hospitalize your cat. Our goal is to treat your kitty until its care can be passed back to you so they complete their recovery in the comfort of your home. In the event that 24- hour ICU care is required we have a local emergency center that provides a watchful eye overnight.
We are often asked to provide a second opinion to help confirm a cat's illness, educate family members about a disease process, and clarify treatment options. Dr. Huntsman has focused on feline medicine for over 20 years, and if our hospital is not able to offer what your cat needs, we readily refer you to a specialist who is board certified in the area your cat requires.

Dr. Huntsman squeezed me for an emergency appointment. I had taken my cat to 2 different vets 2 days in a row saying something was wrong with back leg. When they didn't feel any obvious breaks told me she was just bruised and she's fine. My gut told me other wise. Dr. Huntsman and her team were like night and day compared to the 2 other vets we saw she looked as prev paperwork I brought with and actually listened to me! She then saw my baby girl try to walk and instantly said we need to get her x-rayed. She had a broken hip!!!! Thank goodness Dr. Huntsman was able to fit us in. Only vet that will

Dr. Kathy has taken such great care of our cats for over 20 years! Fredericksburg is so lucky to have her! Her clinic is immaculate but still has a welcoming feel.

I would be devastated if I had to take my fur babies anywhere else. Dr. Cathy is extremely knowledgeable and holds her self to very high standard, that aside she is a deeply compassionate person who genuinely cares about her patients and their parents. I have had many vets over the last several decades, some good some bad. Dr. Cathy is the absolute best.
