Overwhelmingly, Professor Lima was recommended as the best in the area, and walking through the door of his gym has been one of the best decisions I could have made. His passion and love for his sport, his training methods, and his traditional teaching style makes BJJ accessible to anyone from the advanced student to the very beginner.

This is an absolutely amazing place to train. Starting out at over 40 y/o, I found the experienced students to be very friendly and supportive, great group of mellow and capable people. Professor Bruno was quick to reply to my questions about the enrollment process. If your interested in trying the place out, show up in gym clothes 10 minutes before a scheduled class and the experienced folks will show you what to do.
My 7 y/o is in the kids class. It’s a good mix of girls and boys, and the instructors are great at teaching children.

I started BJJ at Bruno Lima's to improve my health, and the results have been better then I could have hoped for. Bruno is very good at pushing people to get better, without breaking them. I am a type 1, and I used to have trouble keeping on weight and sleeping. I have been training with Bruno for about two years and in that time I have gained 20lbs of muscle and rarely have trouble sleeping. I have also been able to get off medications that I used to take for nausea and my HBA1C has dropped by a full point. Bruno loves to see his students compete, but knows not everyone has that goal. Kids classes are taught by a purple belt. Bruno is never there. Supposedly every Holliday they take the week off. Never told this or told to sign up for texts. After I was told I tried with Bruno's help and still don't receive texts. Maybe just me but I never felt welcome here. The phone is answered with "hello?" Nothing about who's answering or the business name. The English is broken at best and no one knows anything about prices or student info except Bruno and his wife I was told. This might be acceptable if he was there all the time. Won't go back good luck to those who go.

The Bruno Lima Brazilian jiu-jitsu academy has had a profound impact on my life in a positive way. Since I've started training I've lost 25 pounds, I've been able to cut alcohol out of my life, and I've regained my self confidence. Bruno is an excellent teacher and all the more experienced students are just as helpful in honing your skills. My only regret is that I wish I knew about it years ago.

From the time we found out we were having a boy, my husband always said that he wants his son to learn Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu from an actual native Brazilian black belt. We always figured that we were going to have to go to Sacramento, CA to achieve that goal. My 9yr old boys and I have been going to Brunos for 3 years now. He is extremely passionate about jui jitsu and it shows in how he teaches. He takes time, especially with the kids, to explain and show the proper techniques. The gym is spacious and inviting and would recommend it highly to newcomers or experts who love to train.

I've always wanted to learn bjj but never found a place in my town with the right vibe until I met Bruno, I've been training for a year and a half and can't get enough. My six year old son also trains and loves it. If your looking for a fun way to exercise and learn self defense this is for you. The best part of this gym is the family atmosphere. I have a real sense of team with my fellow gym members and I have become good friends with them. I'm proud to be part of Bruno's gym and even more proud to call him my friend.

Bruno is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt from Rio de Janeiro,and has been teaching in Chico since 2010. He's great when it comes to teaching and explaining the techniques to the kids and adults. How lucky are we to have Bruno here in Chico!?!? This is a great school for all levels and ages. I know the kids classes are very popular and the adult classes have a good mix of guys looking for a good workout and others who are looking to actively compete in BJJ.
