Martial arts are much more than self defense. Through martial arts, you learn about not only the art, but yourself, your life, and the world. You learn patience, persistence, respect, control, and more. Seishindo means, true heart way. It is the core of Seishindo, to help teach you to be your truest self.
Through positive encouragement we develop and improve students confidence and independence. With a positive mindset students feel they can do anything. Martial arts is an incredible way to see an example and practice respect. From bowing upon entering the dojo, to shaking your fellow students hand at the end of every class, respect is a moral highly valued at Seishindo.

The curriculum for preschool age children has similar focuses, however, the focus is more on attention and fun. Lessons are mostly individual for the first few months to a year, then students transfer to either a mix of private lessons and group or only group. There are exceptions based on individual differences.
Students will learn the cultural background of karate and Seishindo. Below is a resource for students to practice this knowledge at home. You will find information for counting in Japanese, the history of karate and Seishindo, and basic karate terminology. While counting in class, we will keep count in Japanese.

My wife and I brought our son to Chico Seshindo to learn self-defense and confidence and we have certainly noticed the difference. Sensei Shane is patient and personable. During one of the tests (2 minute squat) we learned something about the level of determination that our son has. He was shaking and beet-red from holding that squat, but he wouldn't give up. We would not have known this if it weren't for Chico Seishindo. Good parent memories right there!

We feel so lucky to have found Seishindo. Shane is an incredible teacher. We so appreciate his patience, easy going style and the natural way he imparts wisdom. Over the last seven years we have watched our son learn karate but more importantly learn lessons of respect and kindness. I can't recommend Seishindo enough.

My son started Seishindo Karate when he was 6 years old. My wife and I were a little nervous at first but after just one lesson we knew he was in good hands. The sensei (Shan) is unbelievable with kids and has a unique ability to read each kid and tailor his teaching style to meet each kid’s needs. My kid is now 11 years old and Sheishindo has filled him with confidence and thought him respect and love for other people. I couldn’t recommend something more!!

I am in the kickboxing class at Seishindo and my last few months here have been incredible! I have made huge gains in flexibility and I am much more toned, but even more than that I have learned a ton about self defense. I feel much safer, stronger, and more confident as a result of Seishindo. The staff is awesome and creates a really comfortable and good atmosphere to learn in. Can't compliment the staff enough!
