Great gym with an amazing staff! My kids love to go to class and learn BJJ from the amazing instructors. We recently traveled away to a competition and the coaches came down and supported the kids through the whole event and each of their matches. I’ve found the adults class to be great for a beginner like myself. The trainers are welcoming and very knowledgeable.

Whether you’re a seasoned competitor or a complete beginner, Americana is an amazing place to train Brazilian jiu jitsu! They offer the highest quality of instruction in the area. The owner/head instructor, Andrew, and the other black belts(all under Tanner Rice) are very welcoming and can provide expert knowledge in the art of jiu jitsu from both self defense and sport aspects. There is a tremendous amount of competition experience here. The students are also very helpful and considerate in making it a positive atmosphere for all to be comfortable and have fun while getting a serious workout

Americana is a fun place to train Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Americana curriculum immerses the student in the full art of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from a variety of different instructors each with different styles. Furthermore the mat culture is open and friendly with positive vibes and energy. Highly recommend .

Americana Bjj is an amazing gym.. I have been training their for a couple years now and have learned so much. The people there are extremely friendly and welcoming. There are members from all walks of life and the gym has a real family-like atmosphere. Andrew the owner even invites other world class Bjj instructors to the gym to give seminars to his students. This place provides you with an awesome workout, a stronger fundamental understanding of grappling, and lots of fun!

Awesome please to learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. I've managed Jiu Jitsu gyms in Thailand and trained at nearly a dozen different academies, and Americana is a top notch place to train. Super friendly and welcoming to beginners and everyone. Highly recommended.

American Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a great academy and I consider myself lucky to have found them. The instructors are all extremely knowledgeable and teach the art of Jiu Jitsu in a way that is easy to understand. Ego’s are left at the door and everyone is made to feel welcome regardless of your skill level.

I’ve been going to this gym for a while now, and I can’t think of ever training BJJ anywhere else. Americana is a smaller gym filled with many high-level BJJ practitioners, who are friendly and inviting, and eager to teach their BJJ skills to new students in a safe and proficient manner. As time has gone by, it’s hard not to form close friendships with others at the gym.

When I first started training at Americana over 6 years ago, I was just looking for a place to get some exercise. Little did I know that I would find a sense of community and make lasting friendships with the people at Americana. Andrew and the other instructors are great at making people feel comfortable, which, in turn breeds an environment that is safe, confidence building, and fun! It doesn't matter whether you are a fierce competitor, a weekend warrior, or just looking for some applicable self defense technique; Americana is absolutely the BEST place to train Jiu Jitsu in Chico!

When we heard that a new Jiu-Jitsu gym was opening we were very excited. My 7 year old has tried a couple different places but none of them ever felt right until he started here. His confidence has soared and the gym has given him a sense of community. Seeing him thrive made me think about starting classes. I began with the women's self defense class. At 1st I was nervous and felt insecure since I had never done any martial arts, but every teacher was very patient and knowledgeable. They made me feel comfortable and my own confidence has increased so much that I have now enrolled in the beginners

We've checked out a couple of different schools, even attended others for over a year to see if we just "were slow to warm up" with the instructors & school-- We weren't. Americana was the first school we felt truly welcomed, not just another student to pay the bills. Andrew is a warm, patient and wonderful instructor with kids, teens and adults. I've watched him take the time to connect with his students on a personal level. You can see his passion for BJJ shine through every time he steps on the mat. His assistant instructors do not lack luster either... They clearly

I trained BJJ on and off for about a year at another school in the Bay Area before moving to Chico last fall and I can honestly say that Americana is one of the best schools in the area and in general. My jiu-jitsu game has definitely grown leaps and bounds compared where it was before I started. Andrew and all of the instructors here have a very detailed oriented approach in there teaching style. They make it a point to observe every student and help make sure that they are learning the techniques properly. There is a very learning friendly atmosphere here and everyone who trains here is willing

I moved back to Chico 2 months ago looking for a place to train and these guys welcomed me with open arms. The first thing I noticed was the great teaching and attention to detail for each student. Mushu does a fantastic job breaking down skills and helping you learn each part, then helps you practice it until it becomes fluid and natural. The instructors are always genuinely concerned about each new student feeling comfortable and safe with the movements and the partner they are drilling with. As a female, this was very important to me. I feel taken care of, but not babied. After training at Americana
