At Highland Towers, located in Southfield, Michigan, we offer one and two bedroom apartment homes to seniors aged 55 and up. Our community also offers many amenities to our residents such as a community lounge, elevator, outdoor picnic area, on-site laundry facilities, and ample parking, just to name a few.
Our pet-friendly community is centrally located in the heart of metro Detroit just off I-696. This gives our residents easy access to shopping at places including Kmart, Target, Kroger, and many Pharmacies. We are also just minutes away from Rackham Golf Course and both Providence and Beaumont Hospitals.

Services
We allow 2 pets max per unit, and only cats and dogs are allowed. There is a $350 non-refundable pet deposit, and pet rent is $25/mo per pet. Restricted dog breeds include: Pit Bulls & Staffordshire Terriers, Doberman Pinschers, Rottweilers, Chows, Great Danes, Presa Canarios, Akitas, Alaskan Malamutes, German Shepherds, Siberian Huskies, Wolf-hybrids, or a mix of any of the above.
As a leasing consultant for Highland Towers, it is my job to answer your questions and help guide you through the leasing experience. The AC in apartment hasn't worked for the entire month of July, and with only a few days left in August it doesn't look likely to be fixed this month either. This is no way to treat a senior citizen and military veteran. This is a deplorable way to treat any human being! All I get from the office is indifference and condescension. I am now thinking that there is some retaliation involved. When renewing my lease at the end of June I noticed a discrepancy between the lease and the paperwork MSHDA sent me. The office had tried to increase my rent $30 without giving MSHDA the required 60 day notice

Theresa vom Steeg appeared to be a good Manager, but when her integrity was tested, she folded. On 8/9/2021 Theresa, violated Article 1 Section 1 of the Property Managers Ethical Code, when she engaged in activity, that discredit her profession. Theresa, should be embarrassed by her actions. Property Managers, should not be fraternizing with residents, to the point, they (both residents and manager) are conjuring stories up, from which, Theresa used to personally, approach an individual. Where is the professionalism?

I just recently toured and applied at Highland Tower. The community was very well taken care of and the staff was very helpful with the information pertaining to the application process. The amenities are great. The rates were very reasonable and the move-in special really helped me since I'm just starting out on my own. The surrounding communities wanted an arm and a leg for their up front fees, rent and pet costs!! I really liked how I met the whole staff on my tour, even the grounds keeper! It's really nice to know who will be taking care of you during your stay. I'm really excited to make Highland

The staff was very helpful in helping me move forward in the move-in process. I'm recently retired, so I need all the help I can get. The apartment was clean, and all appliances in working order. They have a nice, peaceful picnic area and a huge community lounge for all tenants. A great, safe community in the heart of metro Detroit.

Highland Tower is in a wonderful location. It's not too far from local stores or the interstate, yet not in the heart of the city. The staff are excellent and listen to any concerns I may have. Maintenance is also great. I like the fact that the buildings get washed from the ground up every year. It is a quiet community, which is very nice.

THIS PLACE IS A DUMP!!! Bed bugs, roaches, dirty tenants, mold in HVAC closets and mold in the kitchen cabinets, huge dumpster out back, heat doesn’t work in community rooms, they never open the pool, managers change every few months after they’ve been fed up. The city has on going cases against the owners for all sorts of violations. I feel bad for a lot of people that are stuck in there, this place is an absolute nightmare. The maintenance workers give things there best but the owners won’t pay for what is needed. A lot of people move right back out once their year contracts
