Since its inception in 1975, the driving force of the administration, teachers and board members at St. Mary's Richard Tufenkian Armenian Preschool has been to nurture children and educate future generations. Forty years later, Richard Tufenkian Preschool continues to strive for excellence by providing a quality early childhood program.
The school has been successfully accredited since 1998 by NAEYC, a nationally acclaimed organization for early childhood education. Services
The early years of childhood are the most significant, for it is at this time that children build a foundation of self-esteem, a sense of community, cultural identity and religious beliefs. From its inception, the main goal of St. Mary's Richard Tufenkian Armenian Preschool has been to provide an appropriate early childhood education program, with a strong emphasis on Armenian heritage and culture.
To maximize campus safety and security and to guide the traffic, the school has a security guard on duty during the school hours. All visitors and guests are required to sign in at the main office at the beginning of their visit. Any visitor or guest will be asked to provide his or her name, address, and the purpose of his/her visit.
Our food menu is designed, prepared, served and stored in accordance with the US Department of Agriculture (USDA). Food that comes from home for after school snacks or for class activities, must be either whole fruits or commercially prepared foods in factory sealed containers or packages. A sample of a 4-week cycle menu is posted on the parent board.
Admission to the school is possible by placing the child on the school's waiting list. Please note that the waiting list is valid for one year. If your child is not admitted due to limited space, you will need to renew his/her name on the waiting list again. With the exception of the 2 year old group, all children must be potty trained when starting school.
All new and returning students are required to annually submit health forms, including Immunization Records, Pre-Admission Health History - Parent's & Physician's Reports & Parent Permission for Administration of Acetaminophen (a generic brand of Tylenol).
