The key to a great school comes with great leadership. Flamingo teachers are leaders. Training is an essential part of why the Flamingo rises above and beyond. As a school, we surpass the Minimum Standards as required by the State of Texas by 5 times the requirement. All educators are CPR & First Aid certied through the American Heart Association.
O like a rocket at 2-years old, our toddler classroom is all about exploration. Sensory activities are a huge part of our everyday learning. This classroom is created to promote independence and encourages discovery as a child realizes there's a huge world out there! A world of monsters and fairies await when we enter our 3's class.
Our littlest Flamingo students are known as the Busy Bees. This is a sweet, tender environment where every student is loved, nurtured, and supported. Beginning in the morning, students start the day by eating breakfast family-style. Our little ones cannot wait to explore their classroom, climb on the tunnel climber, and giggle with their friends.

We have two sons. My 6-year-old attended Flamingo for 5 years. My 3-year-old has been at Flamingo since he turned 1. We would not take our children any place else for their preschool education. We feel that we hit the jackpot!
My now 6-year-old is in Kinder and his teacher and friends rave about how smart he is and that we credit to Flamingo and their wonderful teachers.
My 6-year old asked me how much Flamingo costs because he wants to make sure that when he has children that his kids can go to Flamingo. And every time we pick up/drop off our 3-year-old, the 6-year-old mentions how much

We had the harshest experience ever at Flamingo Preschool. Erika (Not sure what role Erika has since they cut the call once I asked) texted back and forth my daughter all morning regarding her availability for an Interview for today witch we agree, Erika send a text with available hours from 3-6. We then proceed to change view personal errands etc. To have my daughter step in for the interview. Once my daughter arrives at 4:11 pm she walked right out as they were expecting her at 3pm. Not only the lack of professionalism adds to that the sarcasm of the person that answered the call, after 5 minutes

We have tried other preschools, and Flamingo Island is without question the best preschool in the East Richardson/Plano/Garland area. Attentive and loving teachers and supportive leadership. The kids at Flamingo always come first and it shows. We have two boys (ages 5 and 2) with different personalities, and both love their teachers and school. When we talk about our day in the evening both boys go into detail about all the things that they learned, friends they played with, and the activities they enjoyed. We loved Flamingo! I highly recommend this place to parents in the Richardson area. The teachers in the Bunny class were so incredibly loving to my 18 mo twins and my kids were excited to go to school every day. The staff was great with communicating to us about how much our kids ate and how their day went. ALL the teachers seemed to know my twins well and Ms. Kay/Mr. George even knew when morning drop offs weren't going well. I also loved how they would send photos of the children throughout their day to rest my mind at ease that my kids were enjoying their day. It is a very well run

We love Flamingo! My nephew moved to Flamingo from another preschool and his life changed. The attention that he gets here is beyond amazing. Education, safety and overall happiness are incredible. Teachers are always smiling, and having a good time with the kids. I can't believe what difference Flamingo made in his life. He is always happy when we come in, engaged in something very educational. Even he is only two, he can count, write and do big boy things :) They have parties that they organize for the families, the best part is that whole family can come and have fun. Please read all the other one star reviews. It's a telltale sign of how this place will treat you and your child. They have a common theme, Discrimination. Whether it's race or a disability, it's clear they are intolerant. When I told Ms.Kay where my daughter was currently going, she said oh the Muslim daycare and sounded utterly disgusted. From there the conversations continued to go downhill. They make it very clear that you need to come as a family, well my husband and I have different schedules, it's pretty difficult for us to show up at the time flamingo specifically requests

Flamingo Island is a wonderful, loving environment for learning! Our daughter started in the one year old class at 15 months old. As first time parents sending our child to preschool for the first time we did a lot of research and several interviews with local schools. From the beginning, we felt that Flamingo Island was the place for our daughter to learn and grow. We appreciate the music time, art time, sensory activities and traditional learning activities like reading and flash cards that are incorporated into each day. Our daughter loves all of her teachers and the friends she has made here

My son Tyler is now in the 5 year old classroom and we have been there for a little over a year. It is amazing the improvements we have seen in a year. One day he saw a picture of the continents and he named them at the age of 3.5. At his older school he was shy and quiet but at Flamingos he has opened up and made some great friends. He loves his teachers that he has had and so have we. They gave us daily updates on what he was learning, gave us "hmwk" to practice with him on the weekends and made learning fun. We are so glad we have found this school.

This is a wonderful preschool for you precious little ones. Our family was with Flamingo for 1 year 4 months. Being a first time mom leaving my son at a full time daycare was a very tough decision. But at Flamingo they are exceptionally well-qualified and genuinely interested in children and early education. We love Flamingo Island! The teachers are fantastic, the facility is fun and bright, and the owners are very engaged and hands-on. It has a very non-corporate, casual, independent feel. We especially love the emphasis on music and outdoor imaginative play. I'm so happy that my son is in their care. He is a sweet, determined toddler and he loves his school. Highly recommended!

After visiting several facilities in the area, I was pleased when I found Flamingo Island! My daughter was 2 when she started and I was really looking for a preschool focused on academics rather than just a daycare that would simply watch over my daughter while I was at work. Now that we've been with Flamingo Island for a year, I know that I made the best decision for my child! She has learned so much and she genuinely loves her teachers and friends. We enjoy seeing the same faces and upbeat personalities. The school is very involved and also hosts events to keep the family involved. We are grateful

We love this school! I love how it is more of a school vs a day care. They don't have "big kids" there in the morning or after school. They throw EPIC parties and encourage parents and family member to attend. They have pizza on Fridays which is the bomb! Wish I was there to eat pizza every Friday! My 4yr old daughter LOVES going to school here! She is learning so much and although she is the youngest in her class I have no fears of her starting kinder next year at only 5 because she is learning so much! She is learning the states and the capitals!! At 4!!! This school is truly amazing

We love Flamingo Island Preschool. The teachers and staff are so welcoming and helpful at all times. The school is very clean and inviting with bright colors and music in every room. Our daughter started here at 12 months and she has grown so much over the past 8 months. Her social, developmental and verbal skills continue to improve on a daily basis. We love how much education is valued at this school. Highly recommend!

Flamingo Island kicked my daughter out of their school before we even started for calling and asking for information regarding a dress code we were not made privy to.
We had three meetings with them regarding enrollment, and not once was a dress code mentioned. After paying an enrollment fee, we received an email regarding uniforms. I called to ask about whether or not we needed to order them and explained that we had not been informed prior and that I was seeking clarification. The administrator became incredibly defensive and threatened to refund our money 4 times on the phone while I talked

It's a cute school but obviously they have a "type". I called multiple times and the front desk guy's phone demeanor was less than inviting but against my better judgment I decided to book an appointment to tour the school anyway. I booked thru the online booking system that sent me an appointment within 24 hours. After arriving, the same 6+ foot man who was rude over the phone greeted me at the door. We love Flamingo Island. The school has been great for our son and we are excited for our younger son to attend very soon. The teachers are great, and I particularly like the small community. I find the facility to be very clean and inviting. Flamingo Island does a lot to create a fun environment for young kiddos to learn and are constantly adding to the school. We also enjoy the frequent 'parties/celebrations' for parents to join their children at the school such as Mother's Day, Father's Day, Halloween, 4th of July, and many more!

My son has been attending Flamingo since May this year and we both absolutely love it. I interviewed so many preschools to find a school with play-based learning and the ability to provide opportunities for my high energy kid to run around and failed to find the right environment until Flamingo.

This is my first review but after reading the food allergy warning below, I felt compelled to comment. Flamingo island could not be more committed to children suffering from food allergies. My child suffered from a debilitating disease that made him allergic to almost every single food, and Mrs. K and her staff could not have been more accommodating.

My girls--3-year-old twins and 19-month-old-- have attended Flamingo Island Preschool for only one week, but already they love going to school and eagerly ask me every morning if they're going to their new school. Not only have they bonded with their amazing teachers, but they also have learned so much in such a short time. Mrs. K and the teachers truly and passionately care about the whole child, as well as the family as a unit. I feel supported in my role as the parent, and that only enhances my appreciation for this school. I'm beyond excited to watch my daughters continue to thrive at Flamingo

WE LOVE FLAMINGO ISLAND! After a year + of staying home with our son, I got a job opportunity I couldn't refuse and thankfully we found a spot at Flamingo! The school is super clean (professionally cleaned regularly if I remember correctly) and the classrooms are big, bright and full of life! The staff and teachers are so supportive of each child's needs and our son has flourished and continually amazes us with everything he is learning. We are definitely a Flamingo family for life!

Normally, I don't write reviews but Flamingo island is an exception. This is my kid's first day care at age of 13 months, We are very worried as every parent but when i visited Flamingo i got the positive vibe and joined him here without much digging. My instinct didn't go wrong, They are wonderful in every aspect you can think of. They are caring, loving and everyone know every kids name. My kid loves going there. I have to take out my kid due to change in job, I have nearly visited almost 20 day cares and none of them matched with this one.

I cannot say enough good things about Flamingo Island. My daughter has been enrolled there for about 19 months (since she was 2.5 yrs old) and the progress she's made has been incredible.The owners and teachers are fantastic people who obviously care about the kids and enjoy what they do. They TEACH these children in a happy, nurturing environment. They keep the place clean and tidy and I honestly feel my daughter is as safe there as she would be with our own families. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. K!

Beware if your child has any peanut or nut allergy if you are thinking about this place. My son has been to daycares in the past and I inform the staff he has an allergy to nuts/peanuts and the staff are ALWAYS helpful and make sure my son is always safe while there. I am looking for a daycare facility and see that this place has great reviews. I speak with the person answering the phone that my son has a peanut/nut allergy and how they handle children with allergies. Thank you Flamingo for making our experience so wonderful. My daughter attended Flamingo for 11 months. from 14 months to 2 years and it was such a good experience!
I'll list some of the things that I found important:
1) Key pad on the front door for secure entrance - 7am to 6pm.
2) Admin desk in the front where someone was 99% of the time there to say Good Morning and Good Night! - Such a welcoming group of teachers!
3) Smaller class/teacher ratio: 1/7 I believe and all the teachers knew me and my daughter by name! And she loved every single one of them!
