I found Mad One Jacks on Instagram after reading an article about Calligraphy Cuts in Refinery29. I have thin and fine hair so was curious about an option that might help volumize. I booked with Jack and the experience was fantastic overall. My last haircut was awful because the stylist didn't listen and went too short. I like to still be able to put my hair up because I have a toddler. Jack explained what the calligraphy cut might and might not do for my specific hair. He managed expectations well! This is a unique place with cool decor and late hours. Their text in format is cool to book appts. I had my bday haircut here and was treated well. I was offered advice about products but was excited for the brief shoulder massage but didn't get it. I didn't ask so I'll cl it even. They do move your appts around alot, something's last minute, but I run a small business and know how it can. Be. It's also a pandemic so they're very stressed. The price is expensive, even for Hoboken it's too pricey. In my home town I call still find cuts and styles for 30 or 40 total

I'm openly a bit particular about my hair. I liked but didn't love my haircut, called Pam to fix it and she did. Pam has heard about my absolutely miserable hair coloring and customer service experience with Toni and Guy's in Hoboken and was extra careful about coloring. The coloring turned out great. The haircut is lovely.

I heard great things about Mad One Jacks and was excited to get my color done here. I got my COVID shot the day before my appointment, ended up getting bad side effects, and called multiple times the morning of to reschedule. I finally got ahold of a man named Jack two and a half hours before my appointment. I explained that I had a fever, was sweating and did not think I could make my appointment but would love to reschedule. The man on the phone asked me to reconsider and that he would not be able to fill the appointment and that I would be salvaging the stylists night if I came in. I agreed

Let me start off by saying that I hadn’t had my haircut in over a year due to the pandemic so I was really nervous going in and seeing what could still be saved from my hair. I had an appointment with Pam and she was incredible!! She took almost a whole 15 minutes at the beginning of our visit to talk over what I wanted and discuss what could realistically be done considering how long it had been since my last cut. She did such an incredible job and gave life back into my hair! I HIGHLY recommend this salon!!!

DISAPPOINTED AND FRUSTRATED...I don't like to be harsh and point fingers on a public domain because we are all human and make mistakes but I just cannot believe how the employees at this salon take no accountability for their mistakes. The positive that I can point out is that the owner is nice.

Was driving through Hoboken one day and really needed a haircut, I look up and there is Mad One Jacks. They fit me and and I was pleased with the cut, it was really good, modern without being ostentatious. The stylist wasn't really paying attention to what I was saying but in the end I recommend my hair when I got home and it was fine. The following month I needed another cut. This time I wound up with Jack... THE Jack. He is a master! Have me the right cut for my thin hair... carried on a good conversation too. In the end he introduced me to the woman who cuts his hair so now I have a choice

I have been going to this salon since 2008 and I think I've had my hair done by everyone except the newbies. I've been going to see Brittni for awhile now. She's amazing. She listens to what I want, adds her expertise and I leave feeling pretty! They take care of you here at Mad One Jacks with a complimentary beer or wine, head & shoulders massage and coat check! I wouldn't go anywhere else!

Today was my second time at MOJ and omg what a disaster...
Scheduled an appointment last minute, which was then rescheduled with a different stylist - Jack.
Came in, explained that I just want a simple cut, 1-2 inch, NO layers, some framing around face. He cut good 3-4 inch, did layers and the so-called framing that looks like he just chopped my hair off by a mistake...
I really wanted this place to be my go to, but will not come back.
Going to cut my hair short next week to get rid of the layers...many thanks!

I've been a loyal MOJ customer for the past 6-7 years and can't say enough good things about the salon. The late-night hours and wine cannot be beat. I have gone to a few different stylists who moved out of state or changed careers, and now see Dorota, who keeps my hair in great shape. She always does a great job with color (highlights and toner). She recently recommended that I try keratin and it has been THE BEST hair decision I have made. I never would have tried it if Dorota hadn't been willing to talk me through the process and told me about how much she loves it herself.

First time at MOJs and really loved it. My stylist, Nina, was new but was really confident, understanding, and knowledgeable- I'll definitely go to her again. She understood exactly what kind of color I was looking for was able to interpret really well from a photo. She also knew how to deal with my fine, stick-straight hair and gave me a great cut that added tons of body and movement. Oh, and they were serving bagels for early risers- cute touch.

I have been going to Mad One Jack's on and off for about 10 years. When I returned to Hoboken after living elsewhere, I was nervous about maintaining the same cut and color I had living elsewhere. My stylist, Meredith gave a great consultation. She really listened to what I was asking for, and I left the salon feeling great. I have been going to MOJ ever since, and trust my stylist enough to have creative license with my cut and color. I always get lots of compliments on my 'dos!
The owner is also great. It is a fun atmosphere that showcases local artists, and offers wine, beer, water or coffee

AMAIZING!!!!!! I am definetely coming back! Agathtka is a superproffesional. The haircut and highlights are beyond good! When I heard the price, I thought that I have misunderstood numbers for it was so sane and much less then you pay for such job in Hoboken!!! The service is so much personalized all the way down the road. Jack keeps an eye on everyone making sure that every client is happy. They are even giving away party favors with your name printed on the sticker.)))))

The vibe of the salon itself is cool, and the staff was just so nice and accommodating. I explained to Meredith and the woman that washed my hair (didn't get her name) that I was concerned about losing more hair than usual

This was my first time at MOJ. My good friend usually cuts my hair at a salon in my hometown. However, I was in desperate need of a trim so decided to come here despite the mediocre reviews. My cousin recommended going here so I thought why not! The experience in the salon was not awful. However, after a few days, I straightened my hair and noticed one side was at least 1/2 inch shorter than the other. My hair is naturally curly and even when straightening on humid days my hair will curl slightly on the bottom when it's humid. It was hard to tell the length different until today when there

Absolutely great service, and hair cut. The prices are so reasonable you won't believe it! I wish I got my haircut more often.
The stylists are all so sweet and kind. I decided to switch my style back to short after having long hair for a few years. The stylist made sure I was ready and understood how much hair we would be cutting off before we started. That really means a lot to me. Agatha really took the time to help me figure out what I wanted and what was best for my face shape. Not every salon does that, some just sit you down and charge 100$ for a look you never wanted.

I have only been going a little over a year. When I first when I had a complimentary consultation- I was nervous after a few not great experiences at other salons. After the consultation I felt extremely comfortable and was ready to get my haircut they have appointments available the very next day and I loved my hair!
Unfortunately when I went to go back the guy who had cut my hair was no longer working there. They recommended someone similar to him whom i love and I've been going to ever since. I have recommended Agata and the salon to many of my friends. They have all had great experiences

I decided at the last minute I wanted my hair done NOW! My usually stylist was in available. I called mad 1 jacks, spoke to the owner himself & stopped in for a consultation before my appointment later in the evening. I was very happy with my service & end results. I recommend this place to anyone along with being my new back up spot for my hair services.

About to check in for my second cut here, so I guess that is a good sign, I will start by saying that I went to the same person in my hometown FOREVER. I was always nervous to have my hair cut by someone else because I strayed once and paid for it hardcore by sporting a bowl cut as a 16 year old teenage girl. Traumatizing.
