FOR COMPETITION OR FITNESS, YOU WILL MEET GREAT PEOPLE IN CLASS. IN JIU-JITSU, WE LEARN HOW TO SOLVE OUR PROBLEMS DURING THE SPARRING SESSIONS, SOLVING ONE PROBLEM AT A TIME, NOT LETTING OUR PROBLEMS AGGRAVATE US; THE SAME THING HAPPENS IN LIVES - IT'S APPLICABLE. HERE'S AN EXAMPLE: YOU'RE DRIVING YOUR CAR AND YOUR CAR IS MAKING A SMALL NOISE.
Great Jiu Jitsu and very clean space! Wide variety of practitioners, guys and gals, competitors or folks just staying in shape from beginner to black belt! Wonderful mats and everyone is very team and beginner friendly. There are no egos and anyone can walk in and learn the sport and the art of defense from some truly talented people!

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) is a martial art focusing largely on grappling and ground fighting. It focuses on the principles of leverage and proper technique to obtain dominant control on the ground, and provides a greater position to resolve conflict by using submission holds.
BJJ has been proven, when used properly, to be an effective method for dealing with bigger and stronger opponents and has become increasingly popular due in part to its great success in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA).A student can train in BJJ for self defense, sport jiu-jitsu (and submission grappling) and mixed martial arts competition.

There are many different types of Martial Arts out there, which can be hard to really understand the differences between styles when you are trying to choose what would be best for your child. Many parents want their child to learn a martial art in order to defend herself/himself against bullies or unwanted strangers.
NO-Gi is also known as submission fighting, combat grappling, or simply as No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu, and takes the same approach as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, but without the advantage (or disadvantage) of a uniform to grab on to. The difference between BJJ and submission grappling is in the grips.
In the stand-up game, the grips provided by the BJJ uniform allow for many judo-style throwing and submission techniques, while submission grappling take-downs resemble those of traditional wrestling.Grips also come into play on the ground. Where the BJJ ground game is methodical and technical, submission grappling moves tend to be more fluid and fast-paced.

SAS Jiu Jitsu will meet your highest standards whether you are a beginner, or have been training for years. Diego has created an environment where both instructors and students are eager to learn from, and teach each other. You will surely be impressed by how inviting and accommodating SAS is.

I started training BJJ for the first time about a year and a half ago. Before that I worked out moderately and ate ok, but I'm 40 and was feeling 40. I've never had my body react this way before, it's like I'm 20 again. Everyone has been very welcoming and the instructors really pay attention to each persons progress. I feel great and have made some great friends!

NOT FOR ADULT BEGINNERS. I’m sure if I had any prior experience or had seen Jiu Jitsu previously, my time there would have been far more enjoyable. But as that was not the case, and had expected some kind of beginners lesson other than “get in there,” I was disappointed to say the least. Clean space, had hoped for more.

Best place to train Jiu Jitsu, a lot of space and always very clean. The mats are the same ones they use at IBJJF. Diego is the best coach I've ever had, he cares about his students and never hesitates to stop what he is doing to help a student do a move correctly. Diego is not only a great coach but a great person and his radiating positivity can't help but make you feel the same; happy and cared about. You won't regret training here because once you start you will not want to stop.

GREAT PLACE TO TRAIN BJJ WITH GREAT PEOPLE!!!
I've been coming here for a little more than a month and I've gotta say, this is the place to train BJJ in Syracuse. Diego, the head instructor, is a great guy who genuinely cares about each of his students. Another big plus is there are multiple black belts who train here and they are always willing to go above and beyond to share their knowledge. Whether you want to compete, or just do Jiu jitsu recreationally, there is something here for everyone. I think he even has kids classes. As a brand new student, walking into a BJJ school can be
