Services
Arlaine Rockey has been handling Appeals for over 20 years. She handles appeals in the North Carolina and Florida Courts of Appeals and Supreme Courts. She has also handled other appeals nationally, in other state courts with in-state co-counsel and in federal appellate courts by joining that court's bar.
Arlaine Rockey is known as an attorney who pays attention to details, investigates all the facts, explores all the evidence, has worked with numerous expert witnesses, is empathetic to her clients' situations, is creative in finding solutions, and in court is tenacious and undaunted in representing her clients.
If you and the other parent can agree on a fair child custody agreement, preferably a court order entered by consent rather than just an out-of-court agreement, that is specific as to visitation rights, then do it. It is far better for your children and your peace of mind that you do. Custody disputes that are settled by consent, without fighting about it in court, make for better co-parenting relationships in the future.
There are two main kinds of evidence: witnesses and physical evidence. Sometimes there is a temporary custody hearing before there is a permanent custody trial. Most courts require the parties to attend custody mediation because most custody cases can be settled. If there is a mediation scheduled, many courts will stay (stop) all formal discovery by the lawyers.

Arlaine helped with- and through- an extremely difficult personal situation. Honestly, this is one of the best lawyers I've ever met (and I've met a lot of lawyers): smart as a whip, extensive experience, incredibly savvy, and a principled person. One thing that surprised me was how her writing skills (she's a screenwriter, her latest screenplay is a biographical drama of the life of Elizabeth Cady Stanton) really came in to play. If you want an eloquent advocate with a fierce sense of justice, this is your woman. Can't recommend her enough.
