We formed Chrysalis Academy in 2002 under the name Play ABA at the request of a group of parents whose children participated in our summer school programs. In the fall of 2003, our school began with 8 children with autism and just 7 amazing staff members. Today Chrysalis Academy is an Arizona Department of Education approved private school for children with ASD and related disorders.
We serve over 50 students and employ over 50 staff members. More than 12 different school districts contract with Chrysalis Academy to provide education to students in those districts.

Services
Our mission is to provide a continuum of excellent services for people with autism spectrum disorder and other disabilities. We strive to improve the quality of life of our clients and their families. Play ABA currently offers Habilitation and Respite services through DDD. If you do not have a provider, we can contact our providers to see if someone has availability in your area.
During the first week or so, the team will first "pair" with the student in order to build a rapport with them. Pairing is essential in building a rapport with the student, thus establishing the staff as the ultimate reinforcer. Once we have successfully paired with a student, we begin introducing "mastered tasks" and reinforce the students success which in turn establishes "instructional control."
Chrysalis Academy's vocational training program teaches our high school students job tasks and independent living skills. Students practice vocational skills in our workroom, volunteer in the community, participate in weekly outings and attend job fairs. Our students are currently volunteering at Andre House, Feed My Starving Children and St. Vincent de Paul.
We would like to provide you with a tour of our school program so that you can see all that Chrysalis Academy has to offer. If you feel the school would be a good fit for your child, please email us a copy of your child's IEP and any evaluations that have been done. Then, we will schedule either an observation, at the child's current school, or schedule a "shadow hour" at Chrysalis Academy.

Very happy with the school and Miss Ary. My son has only been going here for about a week this far, but he has been in a great mood coming home every day. Hes speaking a lot more. Class Dojo allows very easy communication between parent and teacher and the staff does well with communicating every day as well. Super satisfied so far.

My daughter (3 years old) was only there for about two months before I had to move for my job. She went from almost completely nonverbal to a vocabulary of probably 30-40 words. Additionally, she loved going there, and would often run up to her teachers and give them hugs as soon as she saw them. Worth every penny.
