Since 1999, Providence Childcare & Preschool has maintained our commitment to be a locally owned early education and care center serving the community by caring for children from infancy to school-age. We have employed the practice of self-evaluation and adaptation through the years to ensure the focus remains on what the children in our community need to ensure their academic success in the future-this in keeping with national and state early childhood standards and best practices.
Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, child-centered environment in which highly skilled teachers and caregivers facilitate the development of the whole child to create a strong foundation and enthusiasm for learning for each child in our care.We provide a strong bridge from the early learning classroom to the home supporting the evidence that family involvement promotes success for every child of every age.

Services
We are located on a 2.5 acre campus in eastern Jefferson. This space allows us the opportunity to provide HUGE outdoor play and learning areas for the children. We believe in teaching children elements of and the importance of sustainability. We provide gardens in which they grow food they actually harvest and eat.
The center is led by a mother-daughter team who lend a lifetime of both personal and professional experience. The daughter, Lisa Hagan, is the center's director. She holds a master's degree in education, spent years teaching in Kentucky, South Carolina and Texas, and is hands-on with the day-to-day operations of the center.
Physical Well-Being and Motor Development-Emphasizing the importance of optimal motor development in children, from large motor movements that occur on the playground to small motor work required for holding a crayon or putting together puzzles.
Social and Emotional Development-Interactions that enable children to participate in classroom activities that are positive for themselves, their classmates, and their teachers, as well as emotional support and secure relationships that engender the child's acquisition of such characteristics as self-confidence and the ability to function as a member of a group.

We call them Energetic Explorers from the time they begin walking until they enter our Distinguished Discoverers. Hang on tight! They are always moving, always climbing, and always busy. Your delightful, cuddly companion has become a hectic mass of energy, so demanding, but so full of wonder and enjoyment in life and learning.
We refer to them as Distinguished Discoverers in our Two-year-old Program until they enter our Preschool Program. We plan their day to include simple stories, rhymes and songs. We communicate constantly to assist in the development of vocabulary and sentence structure. We provide hands-on activities that include manipulation of a variety art medium, blocks and puzzles, making music and more.

Positive: Communication, Professionalism, Quality, Value
It doesn’t get any better than this when it comes to a place to send your kids. I’ve never once come across a problem with the staff that wasn't handled exceptionally. The teachers are outstanding and the level of communication with parents is wonderful. Send your kids here and you will be so happy!

Our children have been at Providence for a couple years now, after moving from very pricey daycare. We could not be happier with our decision. Lisa, the director, has been amazing through all of the COVID changes/regulations and our NTI teacher Katie, has been a godsend. You could not pick a better place for your children.

This daycare/school has been amazing. Rose, Sandy, Liz and so many other wonderful teachers have taken great care of our baby. We've been going to Providence for a month now and have noticed our baby is happy, fed, loved, and well-tended to! The ladies that take care of the children there are kind and loving with experience it takes to nurture and support a child! Very satisfied so far with our experience.

This was the first daycare I ever took my daughter to and the first day I dropped her off she got her finger smashed by a cabinet that required bandages for a week...then when I filed out the forms that stated she had a food sensitivity, they kept giving her the food until 6 months later when they finally asked me if she had an allergy to the food and by that point they had fed it to her soo much it didn’t matter. I also saw the daycare worker kissed my child on the face....which I found offensively inappropriate. Probably not the worst daycare...but definitely could use some improvement.
