Brown's Transmission was started by founder Delmar Brown who began tinkering in automotive repair as a youngster in Crooksville, Ohio at the age of 15. Later, while working in the coal mines, he was called to serve his country in 1945-46 in the service in the maintenance motor pool. After that, he returned to Crooksville where he worked for Feadey Ford, Wilson Pontiac, & Cadillac in New Lexington during the early to mid 50s.
Delmar Brown and Homer Martin opened Brown's Transmission on East Main Street in 1957-58. Delmar and his wife Clara began construction of the Wells Avenue business as a five-bay garage using standard floor jacks in 1959. Outgrowing the building with the quality work he provided, he turned operation and management over to his son Guy in 1972.

Awesome service by the team at Brown's! It's taken me a while to get around to writing this review, but a month later the level of service I received still resonates with me, so here I am.
I had my car scheduled for a transmission flush and wheel alignment on Black Friday. I called the day before Thanksgiving asking if I could drop my car off and leave it over the holiday so I wouldn't have to mess with dropping it off the Friday morning after Thanksgiving. They said that wouldn't be an issue at all.
So I dropped my car off Wednesday around noon, expecting not to hear anything back until the

I made an appointment 2 weeks in advance for a diagnosis, a estimate and a return appointment for the repair. When I arrived, they asked for my keys and my phone number so they could call me when they were finished, I said, what was point for a 9am appointment? They said they were busy and they would get to it when they could, maybe tomorrow or the next day. My truck is my bread and butter, I can't afford to leave my truck until you get around to it...i asked "WHY DID YOU REQUIRE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU TREAT YOUR CUSTOMERS LIKE FIRST COME FIRST SERVED?" Started hearing humming from rear of car. Thought problem might be new tires. Took car to tire dealer, they examined car and said I needed new Lexus differential, a $3000 plus fix. Took car to Browns, they examined it and said needed a new Lexus wheel bearing assembly, a $700 fix. Thank goodness Browns has REAL mechanics not just part swappers! The next day they followed up to make sure all was well and the next day drove 700 miles with no problem. Thanks Guys!

We never like to deal with car repairs. I guess I have to say I’ve been fortunate that although the car repairs I’ve had to deal with of recent have all come at once, my cars have been good to me and still worth fixing. Brown’s Transmission & Auto Repair is a great group of people. They do great work, and get it done in a timely manner. They always make sure to give me a call before any work is done in order to get my permission, as well as check in with me to see if I need any work done. Their prices are much more affordable than a dealership, and their customer service is top notch! I highly recommend coming here if you want quality service. I will definitely be coming back!
