Regular nose-to-tail wellness exams, early detection, and age-specific assessments help keep your pet healthy. Many animals are good at hiding signs that something is wrong, so subtle changes in their health or behavior might be overlooked without preventive care. At Horn Lake Animal Hospital, our treatment philosophy is aimed at prevention with early diagnosis and treatment.
Early detection using diagnostic testing provides a complete picture of your pet's health, improving outcomes, and providing baseline results. Our staff is committed to helping you get a full picture of your pet's health through laboratory and diagnostic testing. Annual blood testing helps us determine a normal baseline for your pet.
Our experienced veterinary team provides comprehensive medical care, ranging from routine to advanced procedures and treatments. Although we handle the majority of your pet's medical and surgical needs in-house, we occasionally refer patients to veterinary specialists or specialty clinics when advanced training or equipment will be beneficial.

It’s been a long week. Our little Punkins has been very, very sick & was hospitalized for a few days. We brought her home last night & she is resting comfortably. We were very scared that we were going to lose her. Thank you ,Memphis Veterinary Specialists, for all that you did to save her. Punkins started throwing up & it progressed so much that I… took her to her regular vet HORN LAKE ANIMAL HOSPITAL. Anyone taking their animals there know that they have had a complete staff overhaul since COVID. While we loved the staff during our years of them being her doctors,we have

Even though I waited for over 3 hours I was very pleased with the service I received. It was a Sunday, so everything was emergencies. Mine was not as severe as others. I appreciate that my sweet kitty was seen. Unfortunately we did have to put him down today.
Thank you.

The vet and staff were amazing. We evacuated due to hurricane Ida and they were very helpful to make sure my 14 year old lab was taken care of. I am extremely blessed and grateful to have them assist us during this time.

I took my mother's Pomeranian to the emergency clinic on 6-20-21 at approximately 6:00 p.m. Of course it was after hours. Her dog was having seizures and was very sick. They took me back to a room; and before they even looked at the poor dog, a woman come in telling me it was going to be $600 for them to just diagnose this poor dog. WHAT??? My… mother is on a fixed income. How could she afford that? They did not even seem concerned about the dog, just about the money. When I told them that I would have to take her to my primary vet in the morning if the poor dog even lived that long, they

We were traveling cross-country and had stopped in Memphis when our nine year old chocolate labrador had a medical emergency. Everyone we met was professional courteous and forthright. our veterinarian was kind and compassionate in delivering what was a difficult diagnosis. She followed through and emailed us a copy of her report so that we could obtain bloodwork and a biopsy at our destination in Ohio. We would definitely recommend this facility to anyone in need of emergency services for their fur baby

Soon as I told them I didn't want to leave my doggie there overnight they just wanted me to sign a "refused treatment" form and leave. Oh AFTER paying them $580. So we left with dog still sick and in pain.
Took my dog to a different emergency clinic later the same night, was given option of inpatient or outpatient treatment, Pudgie was given VERY good treatment and came home with me an hour and a half later. ( and for about half the price )
Regions bank agreed that we received ill treatment at HLAH and reversed the charge.
I regret having to criticize any doctor or hospital but you

After twenty plus years of being a customer with 5 dogs it seems like they can’t take care of their customers. I’m down to only one dog and last Friday I took my dog for his yearly shots and check up and I had to call from my car after getting there and after over 40 minutes sitting in the car with it being 90 plus degrees I couldn’t wait any… longer. Today I called to see how busy they were and was told that they would only see animals until 4:30 and that I would have to be in the parking lot before I could get on a list well it seems like they have outgrown the number

Unless your pet is close to death I do not suggest taking them here because you're going to end up paying quite a lot of money. But at least they did warn me. After hours charges is $190 and x-rays are about almost $200 and it goes on from there, I ended up spending $600. They were pleasant and did there job but I never got a call to follow up with the health of my pet.

Ironically enough My pet got sick a week to the day of his visit. I was told if I had any more issues, I could bring him back free of charge. I was hesitant, so upon a family member's recommendation I ended up taking

Horn Lake animal hospital saved my baby after being hit by a car! He went from near death back to my sweet happy puppy because of their quick and skillful action. When we showed up he was bleeding internally and struggling to breath, they went right to work and stopped the bleed. He spent a few days in recovery there and the whole staff was so sweet and supportive calling us with updates very regularly. I really can't thank them enough for giving my puppy a second chance!

I took my 2 AmStaf pups in one evening during after-hours. Upon first walking in to the establishment, I was not greeted by two female front desk personnel. They kept their eyes on their computer screens and blatantly ignored me. One of the front desk personnel that I was standing directly in front of looked at her coworker and told her that I was there. Wow!!! That personnel that she unconsciously directed me to told me that "she'd be with me". Unapologetically, she did not. I just thought it was rude and cold. I was expecting a warmer staff especially where my furbabies are concerned

My best friend took her dog there 5/17/2020. Not only was the stress of worrying about her dog's health (she had chewed & eaten some string that hadn't passed & was hanging out her backside) & well being, she said the way the employees talked to her & treated her dog made it even worse. She said 1 out of the 4 people she talked to was nice. The other 3 were rude. They basically gave her the impression & made her feel like if she didn't okay an exploration surgery that would've cost anywhere from 1300-1500 dollars to do, her dog might die and if she waited

Worst visit ever ! Went there for a simple nail trim! Rude receptionist !! A Mexican girl!
Whoever rung up Invoice 231872.. she said I threw the money at her .. I laid it on the counter ! !!
If I threw it at you, where on your body did it hit you !! IT DIDNT !! If I threw it at you how much of it hit the floor ?? NONE !! This girl needs to grow up and treat your customers with more respect than that !
Maybe the person in charge needs to reevaluate what rude office staff they have ! No respect .. No intelligence !!

This was the worst experience of my life! My first-born baby (a 10-year old Puggle with diabetes), was having uncontrolled explosive diarrhea with blood, he was cold to the touch, and so lethargic he could not get up. As they were the closest animal hospital to me, I went there because my vet was located in Collierville. They did not have the proper equipment to do an ultrasound on my pet, and did not even bother to send me anywhere else. They never indicated that he may not make it through the night. In fact, they told us to come back to pick him up at 7:30am to take him to our vet. We left

I would like to give it 5 starts, but one doctor there makes it hard for me to do that. EVERYONE else is awesome. Can't praise Dr. Brett Thomas enough. Short story, my dog is dying, Dr. Thomas has done everything he can to get answers, personal time invested, gone to battle to get test results that were taking too long. (so did office manager Latrice). MOST impressive was when I went to visit my dog, I was sitting on the floor with her, Dr. Thomas came to in talk with me, he sat on the floor with me, spent over an hour with me going over every possible concern, question, story, anything

My dog of 11 years was seen at the after hour emergency clinic last Thursday night. He was diagnosed with congestive heart failure which caused him to have a seizure as well. This was a highly traumatic experience for me and my 5 year old son. (I would also like to mention I am 9 months pregnant and was having contractions due to the stress.) After a x-ray Dr. Mobley came in and sat in the floor, behind the exam table, and never even looked up at us while talking. He acted completely put out that we were there while explaining that my dog's heart was "very enlarged" and he had a

Was only here once, didn't meet the vet but they took care of us without question and without being judgemental of the situation. The girl at the desk was amazing and very much appreciated. I would try here again if I had another emergency.

Unfortunately had to use them again, great experience once again, vet was great, answered all questions. Left dog all weekend and she did great.
