To stride is to take longer steps, to cross an obstacle, it is also to make positive gains towards your goals. In Physical Therapy it is important to have a thorough evaluation and have sufficient time for all the many hands on and therapeutic exercises that lead to improved function. All therapists at Stride have strong manual skills and use the most cutting edge and evidence based methods to achieve your goals.
Manual therapy is a hands-on treatment by clinicians to treat muscle aches, joint pain, and limited range of motion. It encompasses a variety of techniques including soft tissue mobilization of muscles, specific joint mobilization, and joint manipulation. Mobilization is a slower, more controlled process of articular and soft-tissue stretching intended to improve joint mobility.
If you are a youth, collegiate, elite, or professional athlete, when you are injured, you need a physical therapist with experience rehabilitating sports-related injuries. Athletes place higher demands on the muscles and joints and also require sport-specific training to recover speed, power, and agility.
A balance disorder is a condition that makes you feel unsteady or dizzy. If you are standing, sitting, or lying down, you might feel as if you are moving, spinning, or floating. If you are walking, you might suddenly feel as if you are tipping over. Everyone has a dizzy spell now and then, but the term "dizziness" can mean different things to different people.

I came to Stride PT after a hip replacement. I had been quite sedentary prior to surgery so my overall strength and stamina were poor.
Jonathan concentrated on the specific muscles affected by the operation, and helped me regain mobility using balance work and other exercises. He even fitted me for a set of orthotics that fit perfectly and help keep my foot from pronating. He knows what he's doing, and clearly cares a great deal about his patients. I have been to other physical therapists during my life, but Jonathan outshines them all.

So, after numerous visits with the Podiatrist and boots and splints, Jonathan was the only one who solved my painful Plantar Faciitis. A few years later, he helped me avoid another surgery on my torn rotator cuff. I'm seeing him now for my tennis elbow and we've just started on my bad hip. Yes, my body is falling apart, but with Jonathan's help, I'm going to maintain all the function I can.

Highly recommended.
When I began treatment with Jonathan, I didn't know when/if I'd be able to return to running. He was able to evaluate my issues and help me address them thoroughly. I am now gradually returning to running, which is an enormous relief.
Several PT offices I've been to give clients close attention during the first session; after that they assign an assistant to monitor your exercises, somewhat like a babysitter. Jonathan follows a different model, which was much more effective for me. He spends an entire half hour with you each session. For me, he always began with physical manipulations

As a 78-year-old male with multiple age-related physical issues, I'm lucky to be living around the corner from Stride Physical Therapy. Owner and head therapist Jonathan Cohen runs an efficient and welcoming practice. I have been a client for more than five years, having been treated for several different ailments at Stride. I've had numerous physical therapists over the past 20 years and Jonathan ranks as the very best. His expertise at recognizing and treating the source of pain has always meant relief, both immediate and long-term. In simpler terms, a massage from Jonathan is both relieving

I've worked with other physical therapy practices before but Stride is by far the best. The others don't even come close. I've been going for 3 or 4 weeks and I experienced virtuallty immediate lessening of pain and increase in mobility. I've worked with Jonathan, Oleg and Jackie and they are all excellent. Same with the exercise therapists. The absolutely no hassle office runs like clockwork. Scheduling appointments is easy. I hope to avoid future physical therapy, but if it I did need it, I would return here without thinking twice.

I've had chronic nerve issues for a few months now, and it's always such a joy and pleasure to go to Stride when the rest of my doctors always try to shoo me out the door. Maurice and his team clearly have a good time together, and care about their patients. It's also a very peaceful space in general.

Jonathan is the best. I had a pretty severe leg break about a year and a half ago, and after a year of pretty lack luster PT, I went in to see Jonathan and started to get a better handle on my recovery.
The foot/ankle, she is a confusing and complicated beast. When I was experiencing pain on the pad of my foot, even though it wasn't where I broke my leg/ankle, I was frustrated and confused. Jonathan knew right away to look at the flexibility of my ankle and loosen my calf. Walking immediately became easier. I couldn't believe it! He does a great job of explaining how the system works together

I stumbled across Stride while I was in the area, and was looking to buy Theraband for at home exercises. I am so thankful I found them! I have recurring sports related injuries so finding a clinic that incorporates an active approach to rehabilitation was critical for me. Jonathan who leads the clinic is really knowledgeable, extremely professional, overall the whole team is really lovely and awesome to work with. Bonus is that the setup of the clinic is bright, open, and airy, and it's really accessible (very close to Union Square).

Let me state from the start that Stride's greatest asset is that they are not a factory with dozens of patients being seen all at once. The attention is individualized to you and your issue(s) for which you are having physical therapy. Jonathan has a great staff: Maurice, Johnny, and Arlene are top notch: congenial, patient, and like people you'd select as friends. The room is large, the music diverse but not overly loud, and clean. In the past, I've been to other pt facilities, and Stride is by far the best!

Terrible experience. Had ACL surgery and everything was going perfect until I started coming here around week 6. I was told later that they did not properly evaluate me and the work out they had me do caused damage to the new ligament. I was set back for the next 2-3 weeks but I was still trying to work with them and try to get stronger. But my last visit (about 4 visit) they had another therapist work with me that I've never met before. The main guy running it will only massage young girls or work with elderly patients. If you are 30s male with ACL injury don't expect much attention

I have been suffering from chronic neck and back pain for longer than I can remember at this point. I've tried traditional chiropractors, non-force chiropractors, acupuncture and massage. All of these things offered relief and I will still continue to do them for maintenance but they weren't really solving the issue. Fearing that I may have a bulging or slipping disc I decided to finally try PT. My only regret now is not doing it sooner! After 5 sessions I feel better than I have in years and am looking forward to continuing to strengthen. Jonathan and his whole team are miracle workers

I have multiple injuries from an old accident and chronic lower back and hip pain. The team at stride are healers. Jonathan is fantastic, full of knowledge, gentle touch and warm energy. Arlyn is wonderful and cheerful. Johnny is very sweet and helpful.
The space is welcoming and beautiful views which I find so important when dealing with pain. They genuinely care. I recommend this place. (And they take my budget health insurance).

Tbh, I never thought physical therapy could help me recover from injury, but Jonathan, Arlyn, and Olga did an outstanding job on the recovery from my lower back pain.
My lower back pain is due to bad form while working out. It has been bothered me for about 6,7 months. My doctor told me to try physical therapy. Not many places take my insurance(MetroPlus), but Stride does. So I decided to give it a try.
My session usually starts with massage, so either Jonathan or Olga will massage the area of pain, it is not like a relaxing massage, but it helps relieve the pain in the area. After that, Arlyn

WOW! I am so happy this practice receives MetroPlus!
I am giving this a 5 star rating due to:
1) Jonathan (physical therapist) sits down with you and writes down your concerns and discusses the area where you feel pain. He then communicates this information with his fellow teammates! Before I move to a massage with Olga or Crystal (both amazing!!!) he asks to do simple exercises to view your posture.
2) I then receive the massage which really helped my lower back pain immensely as I was able to walk normally again!!!
3) After the massage I stayed on the bed and Arlene helped me do many

This place is awesome. I broke a bone in my foot and then developed severe muscle pain around it which was affecting my daily life. Doctors kept telling me that the bone had healed well and therefore I was fine, and that I should just rest. I became skeptical and went to Stride, and I'm so glad I did. From my first visit, Jonathan and his staff actually listened, took my pain seriously and knew exactly what I needed. I have experienced significant improvement and have been able to ease back into my normal active routine. Having an injury is stressful, but coming here is not. Thank you!!!

This is a wonderful place to take your not so perfect body for repair and improvement. Jonathan Cohen and staff are so patient, non-judgmental and know what they are doing. They also understood the effects of stress in my life and Jonathan would remind me not to rush - it crunches me up and can lead to or add onto my difficulties. As I get older, I need to incorporate life style changes so that I can live safely and comfortably. A big thank you to them.

I can't say enough good things about John and the team at Stride Physical Therapy. I twisted my ankle pretty badly which resulted in partial tears in 2 ligaments. It hurt to point my foot and going down stairs or wearing a pair of heels was torture! (I live in heels!) I had to stay away from the gym for a while, barre classes, spinning, and anything that made me jump even slightly in the air was painful. (I also live at the gym so this was double torture)
For weeks I thought I would not be able to wear heels again as I could not take a step without pain and had a funny limp as my foot

I have gone to many physical therapists, and most of them are indistinguishable from each other. This time, I found Jonathan at Stride, and it has been a different, and totally positive experience. Jonathan works carefully and does a great deal of hands on work. He knows his material, is helpful, relaxed, and confident in his knowledge that he can help you. His confidence is deserved. Park Podiatry has Stride on their list of recommended sports therapists and when the Dynasplint failed to do the job, therapy it was. Well, after a sedentary lifestyle and much weight gain, these pros got me back to my once-fit self. I was referred to physical therapy for plantar fasciitis and when the place I had gone to before couldn't see me for a few weeks, I looked around and found Stride. I'm very glad I did. Jonathan and Chris work really well together to create a comfortable, friendly atmosphere. The treatments were excellent and they were always happy to show me how to do a particular exercise multiple times to make sure I was doing it correctly. Jonathan does excellent massage work, which really helped my condition improve (in combination with me doing all the stretches at home regularly).

Being into sports most of my life, I have had my fair share of injuries and so have been to other therapists. It usually goes like this, electro stimulation, ultrasound, stretching, one or two exercises watched by someone who doesn't know what they should be looking for, and ice. You will not experience that here, it is all about the one on one personal attention which allows the therapist to personalize your care. The quality of the service is second to none. Unlike most other places, your dealing with an actual therapist for the majority of your visit, not some under qualified "assistant
