Progressive Combat Systems, located in Aurora, is Colorado's premiere Jeet Kune Do school. At Progressive Combat Systems we are not bogged down by tradition or style but rather we will train you to be able to deal with any real-life violent encounter that you may need to defend yourself, friends or family from.
Jeet Kune Do is a phrase created by the late Bruce Lee to describe his concept of martial arts. Jeet Kune Do (or JKD for short) is not a style but rather a concept or principle that states that one should be doing the most efficient and effective thing to accomplish the task at hand, which in our case is self-defense against real violence.

Services
Whether you prefer classes or private instruction we have a service for you in our Aurora, Colorado training studio. Become the well-rounded fighter / warrior that you have always wanted to be. Be ready for anything that comes your way and walk with confidence and courage in a dangerous world. This guide will help you decide if Jeet Kune Do classes or Private Self-defense training is better for you.
These classes take the true teachings of Bruce Lee and his philosophy of Jeet Kune Do and pairs it with the highly effective Rapid Assault Tactics system developed by Paul Vunak for the Navy's SEAL Team Six to help you become a well-rounded warrior prepared to deal with violence in any form. You will learn to win any fight on your feet, on the ground, with and against weapons, and against multiple attackers.
Once you have an understanding of these things you have a better idea of what to look for. Let's break down each of those 7 items and compare the Jeet Kune Do classes to Private Instruction to help you decide which is ideal for you. The JKD classes are group training and we start everyone from the same base.
Let self-defense / combatives training exist to make you amazing at self-defense / combatives and let fitness training exist to increase your fitness. Trying to achieve both at the same time leaves you mediocre at both and amazing at neither. These are not your typical fitness classes, in fact the word "classes" brings up all kinds of incorrect ideas.
Group training isn't for everyone, private training is customized for the scenarios you need the most. Learn to defend yourself against your biggest fears. You will receive private customized instruction catered to your needs.
Are you a traveling business person, a female who has to walk through a dark parking lot late at night, in Law Enforcement, Corrections Officer or Security and need to know how to use both lethal and non-lethal force to control suspects, etc.? Or more importantly how to subdue someone without causing injury? There are very few ways to realistically do this, I'll show you how.

Brian is one of the best coaches around - both for combat (self-defense and jeet-kune-do) as well as personal fitness. Over 2 years of classes, we have felt empowered to protect ourselves if we ever needed to. And the classes are fun! Highly recommend. You won’t regret investing time and money here with Brian.

Brian is an outstanding coach. He is able to tailor his teaching methods to meet the needs of each student and helps everyone develop their skills at their own pace. The gym is always clean and provides a friendly environment where everyone can safely train. The JKD class focuses on practical, realistic martial arts that will actually prepare you to protect yourself from violence. You learn how to keep your cool in a variety of situations including knife/gun assault, group attacks, etc. Training here has dramatically helped me to overcome my confrontation anxiety and given me new confidence and

A gym that focuses on self defense for the real world. The methods are sensible with an instructor happy to help you perfect your technique and style. Excellent environment with fellow students who are all there to learn. The instructor is clearly competent and can ably answer questions and not just with a "this is the style" but with an actual reason why something makes sense. This is a great place to learn how to protect yourself and others. Also were able to help me with my shoulder pain which I cant be grateful enough for. Definitely recommend for anyone who wants to better themselves.

I almost never do reviews, unless it is for a truly terrible experience or an exceptional one. My experience with Brian has, most definitely, been of the exceptional type. Brian is not only an extremely talented instructor, but he is always very positive and extremely patient, the latter of which is critical for me because I had brain surgery and need to rewire many neuropathways. I was initially attracted to PCS because of the emphasis on no "sparring," which I cannot risk do to the brain surgery.
I drive from Fort Collins to Aurora at least every other week to get trained,
and it is well worth

About a year ago I came to Brian to learn how to defend myself. I was tired of being anxious and afraid of just about any kind of encounter that could be confrontational. I began taking Brian's Jeet Kune Do class and the experience has been life changing. I am still very much a novice but the fear and anxiety are gone. To me, Brian's class is more than learning how to defend myself in everyday situations...it's a level of confidence that I didn't know existed. Many thanks Brian!!!

I have been going to Progressive Combat Systems for about a year from now. I love the approach of learning self defense using Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do philosophy. I have been able to learn various techniques that work for me in the real world within my size and fitness level. It has given me improved self confidence and self esteem. I am much more confident and it's help me in so many ways. All the people in the class make you feel like you are a part of a special team that are there to support you and teach you what they have learned. Brian makes sure that we are in a safe supportive learning

Brian is an exceptional instructor! He is very down to earth and addresses your questions with concise advisement. From the get go, you are in a very comfortable atmosphere. The facility has plenty of free parking space, the studio itself is very clean. Brian sets up an environment where you are welcomed by him and all students and you don't need to feel intimidated by rank. You learn very quickly right away very useful skills and tools to survive in a variety (guns, knives, domestic, animals, bullies, ect.) every day life situations without having to go through the traditional steps most defense

I've been attending Brian's classes for about nine months now and love it! I began attending the Wednesday night JKD class and have to say the group is awesome! The other students are friendly, helpful, good people. Brian's approach to coaching is very refreshing, practical and realistic. I have learned a great deal from Brian and feel confident in the ability to defend myself if needed. Nutrition and fitness are other areas Brian has exceptional knowledge in, he has taught me a lot in those areas as well and I feel the effects in my well being. I look forward to the class every week, it is honestly

I've been taking the JKD class for just over six months and like how the system prepares you for dealing with any violent situations you may encounter. I have studied other systems and really like how relaxed the environment is. There is no pressure to progress at a certain rate. Brian will teach you at a rate that you are comfortable with. I really like how this style compliments and expands on my previous training. I recommend this class for both the novice and experienced martial arts enthusiasts.
