Services
The Dojo's martial system is known as Chikurin Te Budo (Hand of the Bamboo Grove) based upon a variety of parent ancestory arts spanning approximately 900 years. Delivered in an academic format, our program enables students to relate their curriculum to the experiences that they have in their public school system and other educational institutes.
During your Two Week Trial Period, you'll have a chance to come in and tour one of our convenient Locations, meet our professional staff and enjoy two weeks of training with no risk! If during your first two weeks at The Dojo you are not fully satisfied with The Dojo Experience, we will refund your money.
A genuine ambassador of the martial arts, Mr. Gaffney is an advocate of the values produced from authentic training. In an effort to provide a real cultural experience, he has led his staff and students during visits to the orient for training and understanding of heritage of the disciples that he teaches.
Philbert Smith was born in Kingston, Jamaica before coming to the United States in his youth. Known affectionately as the "Singing Sensei", he loves to apply a memorable approach to learning in steps. He reaches his students in ways that inspire, while still keeping the focus required of a regimented karate program.
Gabriela Bautista initially began her introduction to martial arts training in her hometown of Guadalajara, Mexico before moving to Atlanta. She returned to martial arts shortly after her son began taking classes at The Dojo, earned a black belt of her own and, after years of committed effort has become an integral part of The Dojo's team of instructors.

I am a 75 year old Shodan (1st Degree) blackbelt in Shotokan Karate and same in Kodokan Judo. (Actually original black belt was in TaeKwonDo.)
Started back when martial arts groups trained mostly in clubs. There were only a few "schools" until I was in my teens. Competed extensively in both karate and judo in much younger years. Although I have worked out in Judo, Aikido and Brazilian Jujitsu in recent years, I haven't really trained in karate in over 14 - 15 years.
Broke leg and tore up knee in Brazilian Jujitsu, and both my doc and I agreed can't do "grappling" styles due to joints going with

This is a very well ran dojo. As a lifelong martial artist, school teacher and parent, I have developed a great appreciation and respect for this dojo's approach to martial arts pedagogy. My 5 year old daughter's growth during her summer of training here has tremendously increased her confidence and focus. I have nothing but positive things to say and would recommend The Dojo to anyone.

My son has gained so much confidence, self-discipline and determination (not to mention muscle tone) since he began in the program last year. The leadership and instructors focus on a lot more than just karate. And the after-school program is great!

If you are interested in martial arts for your child (or yourself!), this is the best dojo around! My family has been coming here for over 10 years, and they are literally an official member of our "village". Let me list the ways in which they excel:
1 - Instructors. They instructors here are, honestly, the best I've seen. But more important to me than their own abilities (which are impressive) is the fact that they are genuinely interested in your child and their growth. My children are better people because of these amazing men and women.
2 - High standards. The instructors have high standards

I have spent most of my life training at the Dojo in Dunwoody. As with most martial arts, you of course will be pushed physically and become physically stronger. However, what makes the Dojo stand out is the life lessons it teaches. If you are a parent and want your child to learn discipline and responsibility, while still having a good time, this is the place for you. Even if you are an adult, the confidence you gain will transfer over into your every day life. Practicing karate at the Dojo has helped me achieve my life goals, and I recommend this studio for everyone.

This is a one of a kind martial arts school that provides unique opportunity for training. The instructors are highly trained martial artists and instructors that are capable of teaching anyone, regardless of age, how to defend themselves. There is also a huge focus on goal setting and executing a plan to achieve those goals. The class schedule is very consistent for each day and week, making it easier to schedule in your training around work, school, or any other responsibilities. Great place for training!
